From Keith Sowerbutts, Oswald Street, Accrington.
I'm Debbie. I come from a musical background
All my family play one instrument or another
Banjo, clarinet, French horn: you can name it
I guess I picked up a start from my mother.
Many years ago, whilst still a baby in arms,
An unexpected flood struck our neighbourhood,
Quickly gushing, reaching halfway up the walls
To float, we picked up all that we could.
My brother soon took hold of the double bass,
While father scaled the big bass drum,
Sister grabbed the cello to give her support,
Still awash were me and my mum!
Then drifting by came the baby grand
Ma screamed at me (in a voice high soprano)
"Paddle to me and I'll pull you on board"
So, (I accompanied her on the piano).
