From Ann M Rowell, Havelock Street, Oswaldtwistle.
The man at the door knocked gently,
I almost missed his call,
His eyes were full of kindness
As if he cared for us all.
He spoke of man's injustices,
He spoke of man's fall
But then he told of man's rebirth,
And gave hope for us all.
When in his company I felt at peace
As if he had given me complete release
From all the problems of my life,
He carried my worries, took my strife
He had the most beautiful, loving smile,
I said to him "please stay awhile."
He was so interesting, I never felt bored,
When I asked his name, he said
I am the Lord.
