From Ann Davis, Tiverton Drive, Blackburn.

The earth has been invaded by mobile phones
There is no way of avoiding those ringing tones.
Classical music, funky and jazz,
Silly little jingles that drive you mad.
Some people keep them stuck to their ears,
How did we manage in bygone years?
On the bus all the family business is heard,
Very embarrassing, and quite absurd.
Contact is kept every minute of the day,
Surely there cannot be much more to say.
To converse on the move is the must of the age,
To sever the link would send most in a rage.
Oblivious of the world all around,
Preference is for a crackling sound.
We just have to face it, they're here to stay,
So switch off your ears, smile and go your own way.
