From Norman Coombes, Spring Lane, Blackburn.
Stipplepod the Goblin was feeling bored one day,
When the fairy folk came calling to invite him out to play.
We can scramble up the hillside, we can wander in the glen,
We can picnic on jam sandwiches and take Miss Jenny Wren.
So Stipplepod put on his boots, he was such a friendly chap,
And being very organised, took along his country map.
They set out singing hiking songs, a knapsack on each back,
The Fairies, Jenny Wren and Stipple, on the woodland track.
They by-passed Brock the badger's place (he was sleeping in his den),
And knew that he would grunt and dream till night came down again.
So climbing to the hilltop and down the other side,
They realised that they were lost and called out to their guide.
"Stipple this is not the path" but he said, "don't take fright,
I had my map turned upside down and went left instead of right."
So striding out, they found the track to sing the songs and roam,
And the Fairies, Jenny Wren and Stipple all got safely home.
