An East Lancashire restaurant that has been closed for 18 months has announced its official re-opening date.

Turtle Bay in Blackburn has been shut since the start of the Covid pandemic, but fans of the Caribbean eatery and bar can finally rejoice as bosses plan to re-open the Cathedral Square establishment in September.

Welcoming guests back from September 24, Turtle Bay will be adding new dishes to its menu as well as relaunching its popular bottomless brunch.

The restaurant is also recruiting for new team members with a range of positions available both front and back of house.

A spokesperson for the Caribbean restaurant chain said: "Of course the return of Turtle Bay means the return of the famous happy hour, bottomless brunch and late night experience.

"Plus there’s a host of new dishes on the menu as the restaurant serves up Caribbean sunshine from breakfast through to the small hours.

"Brand new dishes coming to Blackburn include the new Jerk Chicken Alfredo - a Caribbean twist on a classic where linguine pasta is paired with a mildly-spiced creamy sauce, jerk chicken and mushrooms for a comforting new fusion dish with a kick; and the Caribbean Curry Katsu, which is a fantastic fusion of Japanese and Caribbean flavours, made with crispy chicken breast, scotch bonnet spiced coconut milk sauce and coconut rice and peas."

Turtle Bay’s famous bottomless brunch will be making its return to Blackburn this September too and will run every day from 10am to 3pm (5pm on Sundays).

The bottomless brunch is a two-hour long Caribbean cocktail and brunching experience - including unlimited tropical cocktails, mocktails, Red Stripe or prosecco all to a soundtrack of laid back reggae beats.

Bottomless brunch includes any brunch dish - from Big Kingston Grill Down (the Bay’s Caribbean twist on a full English), to the Vegan Yardbird all for £28.50 per person.

It can be upgraded to include any main course dish for £32.30.

"Plus for those that prefer to stick to an earlier start the Blackburn Bay’s happy hour kicks off at 10am and runs until 7pm."

A special recruitment audition day will be taking place on August 10 and 11 so anyone who wants to become part of the new team should get in touch with the recruitment department via recruitment@turtlebay.co.uk
