SNAPS of the East Lancashire countryside, industrial sites and colourful characters are included in an annual photography exhibition at Towneley Hall.

The Padiham and District Photographic Society’s exhibition includes an array of landscape, portrait, abstract and nature shots taken by its members.

People young and old are invited to cast their eye over the 50-plus photographs on show at the 15th Century hall.

Ray Schofield, chairman of the Padiham and District Photographic Society president, said: “It usually is quite popular.

“We have an annual competition and the winning photographs are displayed as part of the exhibition.

“If you’re interested in photography at all then you can see what other photographers are doing and if you have more of a casual interest, it might give you a push to take pictures or join a local society.”

* The exhibition is at Towneley Hall, Burnley, from March 26 to April 28. The hall is open from 12-5pm Saturday to Thursday, closed on Fridays.
