I REALLY didn't need to know Denise Welch's thoughts about the thong.

Or Kay Adams's, Michelle Collins's and Jeff Brazier's to be honest.

In fact, most subjects discussed on last night's Loose@5.30pm made me want to hold the cushion over my head and scream "too much information" in an American accent.

Something has happened to Loose Women the daytime show in which the likes of Coleen Nolan, Carol McGiffin and Jane McDonald tell all and sundry about the toileting habits of their husbands and embarrass their teenage sons.

Last night it had switched to an early evening slot and men were allowed to have their say.

It's a bit of a far-fetched way to ditch Coleen Nolan a regular on the daytime show but fair play to them, it was worth it.

But sadly the show had lost none of its banality.

Highlights apart from the thong discussion included whether women are the more important parent than men and if it was the duty of a woman to dress up in saucy underwear for her husband.

The problem with this show is that they talk drivel. With no expert to deliver sensible opinions on the subject, it comes over as a bunch of middle-aged women half-heartedly giving their opinions on things they probably couldn't give two hoots about.

Luckily co-host Ted Robbins was on hand to stop things getting too serious.

"I tried on a thong once," he mused. "I'll have to get it out one of these days."
