Comic Katy Brand is taking her Big Ass on tour and will be popping into Burnley on Monday, May 24.

After three successful series of her TV sketch show, Katy Brand's Big Ass Show, the larger-than-life comedian is taking around 15 of her characters on tour.

Katy admits working through so many impersonations in such a short space of time is ambitious.

A few eyebrows were certainly raised among her production team.

“I dropped a bombshell when I said I wanted to get from Lady Gaga to The Queen in less than 30 seconds,” Katy laughs.

Apart from the obvious hurdle of costume changes, morphing into that many characters in quick succession must be a dizzyingly confusing task.

She said: “Funnily enough, I usually find as soon as I put on a character's shoes or hat I suddenly feel like that person.

“But you never know. I might end up doing The Queen as Amy Winehouse.”

No doubt Her Majesty would not be amused, but most celebrities who have felt the gentle prod of Katy's funny stick are surprisingly good humoured about it.

She said: “Because it's teasing rather than just openly bitchy, the feedback I've had has been quite positive.

“Little Boots sent me a message on Twitter saying she really liked her one and Kate Moss also loves it.

“I've never had anything negative, apart from Mark Ronson who wasn't very impressed.

“But I'm not sure I'd go to him for advice on humour.”

Despite being a celebrity herself, Katy has no love for showbiz culture and the glossy PR veil many famous faces hide behind.

She said: “I quite like to send-up people who are getting a bit pretentious and I think it's my job to take the piss a bit out of people who are getting it all their own way in terms of their PR profile.

“It's a bit like being a court jester - reminding powerful people that we're not all buying it.”
