I KNOW we're all supposed to love Pushing Daisies - the new Anna Friel vehicle that has made her a gigantic super-duper star in the states.

And I feel almost churlish for even bringing it up.

But isn't it incredibly annoying?

The story set around the story of pieman Ned who has the ability to resurrect the dead with one touch (but if he touches them again they die forever) has all the ingredients to make it the smash hit it seems to be.

A witty script, a beautiful Tim Burtonesque set and top notch actors. But there's something about it - I can't quite put my finger on it - that makes me want to head butt the screen.

Perhaps its the sickening tweeness? Or maybe it's the super-scripted witticisms? Or is it Anna Friel's American accent? I don't know.

But anything that has a shop called Boutique Travel Travel Boutique' just seems innately irritating.

Mind you, at least Anna Friel is looking great with her whitened teeth and false eyelashes.

I wonder what it is about British soap stars that seems to light the fires of American TV execs?

First Zoe off EastEnders was turned into the bionic woman and now Beth off Brookside is Chuck in Pushing Daisies.

Next you'll be telling us Duffy of Casualty is starring on Broadway.
