We’re Going on a Bear Hunt
The Lowry, Salford Quays
Until Sunday, September 1
IT was Christmas 2016 when I discovered the TV version of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.
It was BC (Before Child) and I probably had a mulled wine in one hand and a few Ferrero Rocher in the other.
I was charmed by the delightful tale of childhood adventure, based on the much-loved 1989 book by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury.
The stage adaptation is currently showing at The Lowry, Salford Quays, until Sunday, September 1.
The mischievous celebration of a play is billed as the perfect outing for families with children aged 3 and up.
I took my 15-month-old along and he managed the 55-minute show no problem, just one snack needed about halfway through, and he was happily immersed in the mix of fun, music, singing and silly faces.
There is plenty to keep older children entertained and squealing in glee (two words – water pistols) as the family takes us on a journey through grass, a snowstorm and more.
The four cast members are magnificent, never missing a beat or letting their enthusiasm waver for even a second – particularly the musical dog (just don’t expect him to look like a dog).
The hit production is direct from the West End, with director Sally Cookson’s fun-filled adaptation set to Benji Bower’s versatile lively score.
The setting is the cosy Quays Theatre and the friendly staff have you covered with a buggy park and booster seats for the little ones.
Go on your own bear hunt and find three bears located in the Lowry Theatre and eight bears in the Lowry Outlet
If you are looking for a treat for the family for the summer holidays, then look no further than We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.
A charming and delightful afternoon... just without the mulled wine or Ferrero Rocher.
