AND so Prawnhead has finally left the Strictly Come Dancing circus - and you get the feeling that Saturday night's won't quite be the same.

True Brendan Cole and Claire King were the least talented of the couples remaining in this strangely compelling programme but for fun value you'd rather have them on than the ice maiden Carol Smillie.

So, we've only got three more weeks to go before the king or queen of the dance floor is crowned - and perhaps the Beeb will do the right thing and decide to make it a fond farewell for dear old Brucie too.

It's almost sacriligious to say it but don't you think the time has come to let Bruce head off and play some golf.

The clearly scripted, unfunny jokes have got worse as the series has gone on and don't add anything to the show.

And this week we had a bizarre couple of minutes where it looked as though Bruce was interviewing Gabby Logan for a job at the Beeb - perhaps she could take over from him on the next series.

On a night when we are being bombarded to make that call' no matter what programme we watch, it's at least reassuring to know that Children in Need will be benefiting from Strictly Come Dancing - maybe X Factor could donate a similar percentage of its phone calls to charity.

Anyway, it's young Ruby from EastEnders to win for me and a thanks, but no more to Bruce.
