With thousands of English football fans travelling to Germany to follow the team's World Cup progress, Co-operative Insurance has issued information for fans about driving in Germany.
* It is recommended that you drive with your headlights dipped at all times, as, from October 2005, German motorists are asked to voluntarily use their headlights in the daytime so as to make their vehicles more visible.
* It is illegal to overtake using the centre lane of a three or five lane two-way carriageway.
Trams are given priority at all times and school buses are given priority when leaving stops.
* Traffic calming zones' are usually in effect in residential areas, which means pedestrians use the entire street and children may well be playing in the street. Watch out for Verkehrsberuhigungenzone' signs.
* Children must be 12 years old or over 1.5 metres in height to travel in the passenger seat of a vehicle, unless using a child safety seat.
* Fuel translations: Unleaded petrol = Bleifrei Normal or Bleifrei Super, Diesel = Diesel, Liquid Petroleum Gas = Autogas.
