A FRENCH historian is searching for the family of a Second World War air gunner from Accrington.
Sergeant John Holden, son of Thomas and Mary Holden, was one of the crew of a Lancaster Bomber shot down by a German night fighter in 1944.
He was a young RAF wireless operator/air gunner when the plane came down over Normandy.
Pierre Madry, who now lives in Rouen, told Looking Back: “The aircraft crashed down close to my native village during the night of June 9/10.
"I am now working on a project and I would like to get in touch with his family or relatives, who could still be in the area, for further information.”
Contact our desk if you can help Pierre with any further facts.
