[TEMPORARY PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2017
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the M66 and M60 Motorways in the Boroughs of Bury and Rochdale, in the City of Manchester, in the County of Greater Manchester, to enable resurfacing works, replacement of road markings and road studs, replacement of bridge joints and variable message signs, and other general maintenance works; to be carried out in safety.
(a) The Order will impose a 50 mph speed restrictions on the following sections of the M60 and M66 Motorways:
i) the M60 anticlockwise entry slip road at junction 19;

ii) the M60 anticlockwise carriageway, from the centreline of Middleton Road West Bridge, to the last point where the M60 junction 18 anticlockwise exit slip road leaves the carriageway;

iii) the M66 northbound carriageway, from the last point where the M60 junction 18 anticlockwise exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to a point 200 metres north of the first point where the M66 junction 2 northbound entry slip road joins the carriageway;

iv) the M66 northbound entry slip road at junction 4;

v) the M66 northbound entry slip road at junction 3;

vi) the M66 northbound and southbound entry slip roads at junction 2;

vii) the M66 southbound carriageway from the centreline of Bradshaw Hill overbridge, to the first point where the M60 clockwise entry slip road joins the carriageway at junction 18 (the end of the M66);

viii) the M60 clockwise carriageway from the first point where the entry slip road at junction 18 joins the carriageway (the end of the M66), to a point 200 metres south of the first point where the entry slip road at junction 18 joins the carriageway;

ix) the M66 southbound entry slip road at junction 3;

x) the M66 southbound entry slip road at junction 4. (b)The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the

M66 Motorway:
i) the northbound carriageway, from the last point where the junction 4 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the junction 4 entry slip road joins the carriageway;

ii) the southbound carriageway, from the last point where the junction 4 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the junction 4 entry slip road joins the carriageway;

iii) the northbound carriageway, from the last point where the exit slip road at junction 3 leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the junction 3 entry slip road joins the carriageway;

iv) the northbound carriageway, from the last point where the exit slip road at junction 2 leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the junction 2 entry slip road joins the carriageway;

v) the northbound carriageway, from the last point where the junction

2 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the A56/A676 northbound entry slip road joins the carriageway;

vi) the southbound carriageway, from the last point where the A56/ A676 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the junction 2 entry slip road joins the carriageway;

vii) the northbound carriageway, from the last point where the junction

3 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the junction 2 entry slip road joins the carriageway;

viii) the M60 clockwise dedicated link road to the M66 northbound carriageway at junction 18 of the M60;

ix) the M66 northbound entry slip road at junction 4 (as described in (a) iv) above)

x) the M66 southbound entry slip road at junction 1;

xi) the M66 northbound exit slip road at junction 1;

xii) the M66 southbound entry and exit slip roads at junction 2;

xiii) the M66 northbound entry and exit slip roads at junction 2 xiv)the M66 northbound entry and exit slip roads at junction 3; xv) the M66 southbound entry and exit slip roads at junction 3.

(c) The Order will allow the hardshoulder to be used as a running lane on the following sections of the M66 Motorway:
i) adjacent to the northbound carriageway from the first point where the junction 4 entry slip road joins the carriageway, to the first point where the junction 2 entry slip road joins the carriageway;

ii) adjacent to the M66 northbound entry slip road at junction 4 (as described in (a) iv) above).

iii) adjacent to the southbound carriageway from the first point where the junction 2 entry slip road joins the carriageway, to the first point where the junction 4 entry slip road joins the carriageway;

iv) adjacent to the M66 southbound entry slip road at junction 2. A 50 mph speed limit will be in force whilst the hardshoulder is being used as a running lane.

Restrictions (a) and (c) are expected to take place overnight between 2100 hours and 0500 hours (continuing to 0700 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Thursday 16 February 2017 and ending on Friday 31 March 2017.
Prohibitions (b) are expected to take place overnight between 2200 hours and 0500 hours (continuing to 0700 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Thursday 16 February 2017 and ending on Friday 31 March 2017.
However, the above-mentioned works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights or continue until completed. Diversions via alternative junctions of the M66, the M60, and local roads will be well signed.
The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance, or traffic officer vehicles. The prohibitions and restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
