Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles became an Olympic torch-bearer live on his show today.

The breakfast show host said the "buzz was amazing" after taking a turn in Aberystwyth in mid-Wales during a location broadcast.

His colleagues, including sidekick "Comedy" Dave Vitty, sounded taken aback when the presenter slipped away and suddenly joined the relay.

Afterwards Moyles said: "I felt so proud. Everyone was waving and cheering.

"The buzz is amazing but it's so quick."

Moyles, wearing the number 006, showed off his rather more streamlined figure after losing several stones in weight in recent months.

Opera singer Bryn Terfel will also be among the 84 torchbearers today during the journey from Aberystwyth to Machynlleth.
