Good Morning Britain co-host Charlotte Hawkins has paid tribute to Eamonn Holmes for developing her presenting style.

She spent the last seven years working alongside the Northern Irishman on Sky's Sunrise before moving to the ITV breakfast show in April.

Charlotte, 39, revealed that she misses her early mornings with Eamonn.

"It's hard when you've worked side by side with someone for so long and you get to the stage where you're finishing each other's sentences," she told the Sunday Express S Magazine.

" I learned so much from working alongside him. When I started at Sky, I had this vision of how a newsreader should be and sound.

"His approach is very much 'be yourself' - and that is what he helped me to do over that time."

Charlotte co-hosts Good Morning Britain with former BBC star Susanna Reid, Ben Shephard and Sean Fletcher.

She claimed it is "ridiculous" that the media pits female presenters against each other.

"We've all got on, right from day one," she insisted.

"You should see what goes on in the ad breaks and we all go out for drinks after work.

"I'm working with my friends. Who could ask for more?"

Charlotte, who grew up in the Sussex village of Sidlesham, said she decided to join the ITV show after her perspective on life changed when her father was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2011.

"I'd always been the sort of person who was cautious about taking risks and would weigh up any decision," she recalled.

"But with dad's illness, it just reinforced how short life is and how important it is to seize opportunities when they come your way."

Eamon Holmes? Is there a more arrogant, sexist patronising man on british TV with his "girls" having to laugh at his so called jokes
