Tess Daly has said she would love to have a career in the US, but has put her ambitions on hold until her children are older.

The Strictly Come Dancing host told Woman magazine that she loves the atmosphere of being in America, but that it is the wrong time to take her daughters Phoebe, nine, and Amber, five, out of school for months at a time.

According to The Sun, she said: "I'd love to live in the States for a couple of months a year, just because it feels like you're on holiday the whole time.

"I love that sunshiney, everything-is-possible vibe. But it's not really practical to take the kids out of school here and schlep over there to do the rounds."

However, Tess, 45, added: "If I was offered a show on a plate, that would be very tempting. But, right now, the focus is on the kids."

Tess will return for another series of Strictly Come Dancing in the autumn, this time joined by Claudia Winkleman as co-host who has stepped in to replace Sir Bruce Forsyth after he announced his retirement earlier this year.
