Melanie Griffith has filed for divorce from Antonio Banderas.
The actors - who have a 17-year-old daughter together - are ending their marriage after 18 years.
Melanie cited irreconcilable differences in the court filing in Los Angeles.
The 56-year-old star is seeking spousal support but is willing to pay her own legal fees, her filing shows.
The actress, who has a tattoo of Antonio's first name in a heart on her right shoulder, signed the divorce petition on May 30 but did not specify the date of their separation.
Melanie and Antonio said in a joint statement: "We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalise our almost 20-year marriage in a loving and friendly manner honouring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together."
The couple first worked together on the set of the 1995 romantic comedy Two Much and they married in 1996. The 53-year-old Shrek actor later directed his wife in the 1999 film Crazy In Alabama.
The actress has been married four times, including twice to actor Don Johnson. Antonio has one previous marriage.
