Louis Tomlinson is reported to be involved in a joint bid to buy his hometown football club Doncaster Rovers.
The One Direction singer, who earlier this week was caught up in a drug scandal after footage emerged seeming to show him and bandmate Zayn Malik smoking cannabis, is a devoted Rovers fan.
He made his professional football debut for the team's reserves earlier this year which attracted thousands of young fans to the game.
The Sun reported that Louis has joined forces with the club's former owner John Ryan, who is still a major shareholder, to buy the club who were relegated to League One from the Championship at the end of the season.
Earlier this month, the band was named fourth in the Sunday Times Rich List of young musicians with an estimated fortune of £14 million each and a combined wealth of £70 million.
Neither the club nor Louis' spokesman would comment on the story.
The singer was caught up in controversy this week when a video he appears to have filmed during their tour in Peru seems to show him sharing a joint with Zayn.
Louis can be clearly heard saying: "So here we are, leaving Peru. Joint lit. Happy days!"
