Peaches Geldof's former nanny has paid tribute to her "darling girl".

Anita Debney - who looked after Peaches from when she was a baby and was a mother figure following the death of her mum Paula Yates - said the late star had overcome a lot and "almost made it", reported the Daily Mirror.

She said: "My brave, beautiful girl who tried so hard to be happy.

"She has been the greatest joy, the greatest blessing, the most tender part of my heart and soul. I loved her through the good times and the bad. We struggled and survived the darkest of times.

"I never lost faith in her spirit and strength. Always held out my hand to help her when she struggled and fell.

"She overcame so much and my love and appreciation of her indomitable spirit never wavered."

Peaches, who died on April 9, had stayed close to Anita over the years, with the star calling her "Nee Naw".

The nanny is now reportedly set to play a part in raising Peaches' two sons, Astala, 23 months, and Phaedra, 11 months.

Her tribute continued: "The joy we shared in her beautiful babies was so deep and meaningful and filled both of our hearts with love and devotion. She blossomed in motherhood and excelled at raising the sweetest, happiest babies in the world.

"She was passionate in her zeal to speak up for the needs of babies everywhere and lives have been changed because of that. What a wonderful legacy she has left to the world.

"My darling girl. You almost made it."

The body of Peaches, 25, was found at her home in Wrotham, Kent. A post-mortem examination has proved inconclusive and toxicology test results could take two to three weeks.
