Florence Welch has revealed that she has a new "writing partner" - a cat called Missus.

The Florence And The Machine frontwoman wanted a pet for company because she is spending so much time at home writing her new album.

She fell in love with a tortoiseshell rescue cat from Battersea Dogs And Cats Home after visiting the charity.

The singer, 27, said: "I'm at home quite a lot working on my third album and it will be lovely to have a cat around the house again.

"I've had two cats before and decided to get a rescue cat because it felt like the right thing to do... the only problem is I want to take them all home!"

Florence, who lives in south London, said Missus was "extremely friendly" and made herself comfortable straight away.

The You've Got The Love singer added: "She'll be a very good writing partner and we'll probably spend lots of time together."

According to Battersea Dogs And Cats Home, comedian Alistair McGowan, presenter Lauren Laverne and Prime Minister David Cameron have previously rehomed rescue cats.
