Simon Pegg is set to star in the Monty Pythons' new film, Absolutely Anything.

The World's End star has revealed that he cannot wait to start working with his "heroes" on the sci-fi comedy, which will be directed by Terry Jones and feature the vocal talent of his fellow co-stars John Cleese, Terry Gilliam and Michael Palin, reported Screen International.

Simon said: "As someone whose love of comedy was hugely informed by Monty Python, the chance to work with Terry was a gift. Meeting your heroes is one thing - working with them is something else."

The Star Trek actor will play Neil Clarke, a "disillusioned school teacher who suddenly finds he has magical powers, bestowed upon him by aliens".

Director Terry added: "Simon Pegg is the absolutely perfect Neil."

Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam, John and Michael will all voice the aliens in the film, while Robin Williams will voice Neil's faithful dog.

Pre-production on Absolutely Anything is scheduled to start in February, ahead of a sold-out reunion of the Monty Python troupe at London's O2 Arena.

The film, which has been written by Terry Jones and Gavin Scott, is produced by Ben Timlett and Bill Jones at Bill & Ben Productions.

Ben said: "We are extremely excited that Terry Jones' and Gavin Scott's script will soon be brought to life.

"Their collaboration has created a laugh-out-loud storyline, wonderfully quirky characters and dialogue that not everyone will be expecting."
