PLAY-OFF chasing Wigan will have to be armed and ready if they are to overcome bottom club Salford, according to Phil Veivers.
Warriors, two points behind sixth-placed Huddersfield, know they must beat Super League's basement club to keep alive their play-off hopes.
But the City Reds are fighting for their lives and will equally be desperate for the points to avoid relegation.
And Veivers, Wigan's assistant coach, is expecting a bruising encounter at the JJB on Friday night.
"It's baseball bats at the ready," said the Aussie No2. "We expect them to have a real tough hit out against us and we've got to combat that."
