MICKY Higham will play his last game before hanging up his boots in Leigh Centurions’ friendly against Wigan Warriors on Sunday 21 Jan,uary 2018 (3pm) at Leigh Sports Village.

The 2017 captain Higham, who has now taken on a dual role working in the Club’s community department and also as a member of the coaching team which will also see him involved in match day activities with the off-field staff, will bow out in a game featuring two former clubs.

The Wigan game will be an ideal way for Leigh and Wigan supporters to give Higham the swansong he deserves.

Leigh Centurions owner Derek Beaumont said: “I would like to thank Ian Lenagan, Kris Radlinski and Shaun Wane for continuing with the Battle of the Borough.

"It is great that we can have such a good relationship with our neighbours at the same time as our respective sets of fans enjoying some fierce rivalry.

“It is great to test yourself against a side that has always been at the top of the game and it provides a benchmark for the start of the season.

"I am particularly looking forward to seeing Micky play his last game in a Leigh shirt and having also played for Wigan it’s perhaps a great setting for his finale.

“Micky has been a legend in the game and is a legend of a bloke and a great role model to his own children and those in the rugby community. I hope he gets the fitting send off he deserves.”

The Battle of the Borough will be Leigh's only home game prior to the start of the Championship season in February.

The Centurions Man of the Match will be awarded the Arthur Thomas Trophy in memory of the former Leigh Centurions Chairman and Owner, who also fulfilled the role as Chairman with Wigan Warriors earlier in his distinguished career.
