LEIGH Centurions are certainly giving their more-illustrious derby neighbours food for thougfht on their return to the top flight.

Last night at the LSV fortress they tucked the scalp of Warrington Wolves alongside that of Saints after another energetic, aggressive and committed performance.

Once again veteran Gareth Hock led the charge and his massive performance was topped and tailed with two tries to clock up an impressive 22-8 win.

Centurions have made a mockery of the tough opening to the fixture card and predictions that they would struggle to mix it with the big boys.

Leigh rocked the visitors with some aggressive defence and were in their faces throughout, smashing the ball carriers and harrassing and harrying their pivots.

Their organised and committed defensive phalanx reduced the Wolves into a chaotic shambles.

Leigh raced into a 10-0 lead with Ben Crooks adding Leigh's second and were dominant, and even survived the 10 minutes without sin-binned Glenn Stewart.

Adam Higson went over for a third try as Centurions exploited their one-man advantage with Tom Lineham in the bin.

Although he returned to grab a consolation, Hock rubbed Wolves' noses in it with his second.

What a night - and one that underlined once more that Leigh are not here to get star-struck or make up the numbers.
