DAYNE Weston carried off two prestigious individual awards at Leigh Centurions' sell-out Awards Dinner at Leigh Sports Village yesterday evening.

The popular Australian prop forward doubled up as Players' Player of the Year and Coaches' Player of the Year, beating off strong competition from fellow nominees, Club Captain Micky Higham and Adam Higson in both categories.

Weston, who has been a model professional on and off the field in his first season in England was typically modest as he received his awards, thanking his team mates, coaches and all the Club's supporters for making him and his family feel so welcome despite being 12,000 miles from home.

Martyn Ridyard's try at Swinton Lions was awarded Try of the Season as the pick of the 181 tries scored by the Club so far during the 2016 campaign.

Club Owner Derek Beaumont presented Head Coach Neil Jukes and Assistant Coach Paul Anderson with a joint Special Award for their contributions during the year and awarded Neil Barker the Clubman of the Year accolade for his contributions towards the Club's flourishing commercial activities.

The presentations were rounded off with an emotional tribute to the popular Reni Maitua who is retiring at the end of the season after a distinguished career.

A host of the sport's greatest names including Jonathan Thurston, Sonny Bill Williams, Jarryd Hayne, Braith Anasta, Willie Mason, Steve Price, Nathan Myles and Frank Pritchard paid video tributes along with Reni's family.

Reni 's great friend and teammate Willie Tonga also presented him with a signed photographic compilation by Club Photographer Paul McCarthy .

Guests enjoyed a Champagne reception, a three course meal and fabulous entertainment from table magician Jason Rey, comedian Pete Emmett and singer Martin Gregory-Lambert in addition to the awards presentations.

Coaches Player of the Year: presented by Shirley Lloyd (Bradshawgate Cafe) and Neil Jukes- Dayne Weston.

Try of the Year: presented by James Oakes (Kukri) and Paul Cooke - Martyn Ridyard.

Clubman of the Year: presented by Bill Gregory (Leigh Cables) and Derek Beaumont - Neil Barker.

Special Award: presented by Chris Travers (Collins and Darwell) and Derek Beaumont - Neil Jukes and Paul Anderson (joint).

Services to Rugby League Award: presented by Dean Lee and Neil Henderson (Preston Audi) and Willie Tonga- Reni Maitua.
