MICKY Higham will play 10 minutes for both sides when his two former amateur clubs, Leigh Miners Rangers and Leigh East renew old rivalries as part of his testimonial celebrations at Twist lane on Saturday.

One of Leigh rugby’s most enduring stars - a three-time Challenge Cup winner with Warrington Wolves - played junior rugby for both clubs before joining the Centurions in 1998.

The hooker clocked up more than a century of appearances at both St Helens and Warrington and was just three short of reaching the same landmark at Wigan.

The match, which kicks off at 2pm, brings together the town’s big amateur rivals who both enjoyed encouraging 2014 campaigns and, although now in their close seasons, will be looking to end the year with the local bragging rights in their first meeting for two years.

East, under Higham’s former team-mate Paul Wingfield, were revitalised this year after a very shaky start, and after falling just short of the Division two play-offs, will be looking to climb back to the top of the amateur game next season.

Miners meanwhile showed solid progress in the Premier Division under coach Allan Coleman.
