Lancashire have this afternoon won their first County Championship cricket title for 77 years.

Warwickshire started the day as favourites, needing just to match Lancashire's result to take the crown.

However, despite making Hampshire follow on, they were frustrated on the final day at the Rose Bowl as the match ended in a draw.

Openers Stephen Moore and Paul Horton set Lancashire on their way with 71 and 55 respectively in the second innings at Somerset.

And around 5.10pm, Lancashire passed their target of 211 to win the match by eight wickets.

The winning runs, hit by Steven Croft, sparked jubilant scenes.

Lancashire took 23 points to Somerset's 5 and in the end took the title by a seemingly comfortable 11 points.

The last Red Rose title triumph was in 1934, though they also shared it in 1950.
