GB ICE HOCKEY: The Women's Under-18 World Championship (Division 1) Qualifier will be held in Dumfries, Scotland from 29th October to 3rd November 2012.
Ice Hockey UK confirmed that GB will go head to head with China, France, Italy, Kazakhstan and Slovakia for a place in the Division 1 tournament in Switzerland in January 2013.
This event comes on the back of the 2012 Women's Senior World Championship (Division 1B) being held in Hull in April this year.
Andy French, Ice Hockey UK general secretary, said: "This year's tournament in Hull was a great honour and that will be the case with Dumfries in October and November.
"We are very proud at Ice Hockey UK to be hosting top international events in the UK.
"I would like to thank Dumfries and Galloway Council for all their support in hosting the event.
"I hope the people of Scotland come out and support the event and roar our Under-18 Women to Switzerland."
Stuart Biggar, from Dumfries & Galloway Council, added: "We are delighted to be selected to stage the Under-18 Women’s World Championship Qualifier in October. "The staging of this event demonstrates a significant progression for Dumfries Ice Bowl in its 20th year of operation into the delivery of international standard ice hockey. "The region is pleased to welcome five nations from across the world to experience the hospitality and welcome of the residents of Dumfries and Galloway and provide the people of this nation the opportunity to watch the highest standards of international women’s hockey."
