GB ICE HOCKEY: Ice Hockey UK have released Joel Poirier from his position as head coach of the Great Britain Under-20s side.
Poirier, an eighth-round NHL draft pick for the Washington Capitals in 1993, took over the position of GB U20 head coach from Pete Russell in October last year and led the Under-20s in the 2012 World Championship.
Ice Hockey UK general secretary, Andy French, said: “I would like to thank Joel for all his hard work with the Under-20s in the last year.
“We are very grateful to him for leading GB Under-20s at the World Championship in Germany and for all his dedication to the programme in the last year.
“The board of Ice Hockey UK are going to make changes to the GB U20s programme and we felt we needed a change of direction.”
