SCORER: Colin Shields celebrates the first of his two goals for GB against Austria
GREAT BRITAIN ICE HOCKEY: Great Britain lost 7-3 to tournament favourites Austria in their second game at the World Championship in Slovenia.
GB fell behind in the first period to a powerplay goal from Thomas Hundertpfund on 7:48.
Gregor Baumgartner scored Austria's second on 9:12 and Manuel Latusa added a third just 25 seconds later for a 3-0 first-period lead.
Baumgartner netted his second on a powerplay at 21:27, before Sheffield Steelers forward Colin Shields scored his second goal of the tournament on 33 minutes.
Matthias Trattnig put Austria 5-1 ahead at 34:38 and Shields scored his second goal of the game on 38 minutes to close the gap to 5-2 at the end of the second session.
Mauel Latusa scored Austria's sixth with a powerplay goal on 43 minutes, while Panthers player-coach Corey Neilson cut the deficit with the man advantage at 50:27, with assists going to Shields and his Nottingham team-mate David Clarke.
Austria netted their seventh through Raphael Herburger seven minutes from the end to complete the scoring.
GB, who lost their opening game 3-2 to Slovenia, are next in action on Wednesday against Ukraine at 12noon UK time.
