Elite League teams pay respect to tragic coach

ELITE LEAGUE ICE HOCKEY:

A mark of respect will be observed at Elite League matches this weekend following the death of Kelly Dutiaume, wife of Fife Flyers player-coach Todd.

There are home games this weekend for Belfast, Braehead, Coventry, Dundee, Edinburgh, Hull, Nottingham and Sheffield.

Mrs Dutiaume suffered a heart attack at home on Monday evening, just days before she was due to give birth to twins. Doctors were also unable to save the babies. The couple, who were described as 'soulmates' by those who knew them, also have a three year old daughter.

Tributes have poured in from the ice hockey world and hundreds have left messages via Facebook and Twitter on both the league’s and Fife’s social network pages.

Andy French, Elite League director of hockey operations, said: "Our thoughts are with everybody connected with the Fife Flyers organisation, especially Todd and both families.

"The whole ice hockey community will rally round Fife and offer help in any way we can."
