GB ICE HOCKEY: Great Britain and Nottingham Panthers hot shot David Clarke says he is thrilled that he will be able to take to the ice in a GB jersey in front of his home fans at Nottingham’s NIC when the national team take on the Netherlands on Saturday 10th April at 7pm.
The twenty eight year old winger has been in outstanding form for his club side, scoring thirty-four goals in this season’s campaign already and nothing would please him more than adding to his international tally on home ice.
Clarke said: "The national team players love playing in front of all the GB fans as they do such a great job of getting behind the team when we play. But it's going to be that bit more special for me when we get to play the Netherlands at the NIC as there are naturally going to be a lot of Panthers fans at the game.
"They give our club side such fantastic support and it will be great to see them do the same for the national team. Most of them will never have had the chance to see the GB side play and those that take advantage of this opportunity won't be disappointed. We have a great rivalry with the Netherlands and we’ve had some cracking games with them over the last few years. "I'm sure they will get the chance to see a few Panthers players in GB colours at these games. Danny Meyers has been a GB regular for a while now and guys like Steve Lee and Marc Levers must be pushing hard for a place in the squad. It will also be good to see Matt Myers back here again after his season in the States.
"I'd just encourage everyone to come along to either of the two games against the Netherlands. It's years since we’ve been able to play full internationals on home ice and these are going to be good ones."
