Officials from Manchester Phoenix and Sheffield Scimitars have agreed to a new date for the game postponed on December 20th due to the pre-Christmas Arctic weather conditions.

The game will now be played at the Altrincham Ice Dome on Thursday January 28th with a 7.30pm face-off time.

Phoenix GM Andy Costigan said: "We looked at every possible option of re-arranging this battle against the Scimitars, but in the end the only realistic option was to play on the 28th.

"We discussed options with EPL officials, but none were satisfactory as they would have involved multiple fixture changes for a number of clubs and that just isn't feasible.

"We are grateful for the agreement of the Scimitars and also for the co-operation of our Junior Club who have given up an evening of their valuable training time to accommodate this fixture for the Phoenix."

Re-igniting the lighter side of the pre-Christmas match, a spokesperson for the Scimitars said: "Manchester didn't fancy the idea of our travelling supporters out-doing them in the Fancy Dress stakes originally planned for the game in December, so we'll throw down the gauntlet again.

"Not only will this be another War of the Roses battle, but it will also be a War of the Fancy Dress and our fans reckon we're on a winner."

A Phoenix supporters spokesman said: "Bring it on Sheffield. Our team has a great record against you this season and we reckon our fans will respond in dramatic fashion, if that's the right word, to your Fancy Dress challenge."
