TITLE-chasing Manchester Phoenix crashed to a 7-1 loss in Slough on Saturday.
It was their third defeat of the season to the rampant Jets who took their goal tally over the Phoenix to 18.
Although they outshot their hosts for the first two periods, defensive lapses gave Slough a 6-1 end of second period lead.
They then added another in the 44th minute before Ed Courtenay clocked his 31st of the season as a mere consolation.
“No team can afford to lose four players and their number one goalie and expect to keep on winning," Hand said.
Sunday's home tie with Sheffield Scimitars was cancelled due to adverse weather.
Meanwhile, Phoenix' quartet of Iain Bowie, Robert Lachowicz, Joe Graham and James Neil helped Great Britain u20s win promotion from their World Championship Group 2.
Following a 25-1 win over Mexico, they scored a penalty shootout win over the hosts Hungary to qualify for Group 1.
Bowie in particular can be very proud of his tournament emerging as GBs top point's scorer with 17 over five games.
