Andrew Jaszczyk has returned as Excel Hull Stingrays’ back-up goaltender for the 2009/2010 bmibaby Elite League campaign.

The Rotherham-born 20-year-old posted an 82.0 saves percentage and a 6.02 goals against average in 11 games last season. He will be understudy to new Swedish signing Tommy Sandahl.

Team owner Sue Pack said: "Andy did a great job as back-up last season. When he had the opportunity to play he took it and he did very well for us.

"Andy attends all the training sessions, is dedicated and enthusiastic and he is a really good person to have in the changing room."

Jaszczyk said: "It was a good experience last season and I really enjoyed it. Curtis [Cruickshank] helped me a lot and when he was injured I got my chance. I am looking forward to working with Tommy and see how he plays. I want to improve every season and it will be good to look at a European style of hockey.

"I am excited at how the team is shaping up. The team is looking really strong and we have signed players with good backgrounds. I think we can challenge the top teams and be more consistent against them next season."
