FOOTBALLER Gary Neville's 12-bedroom mansion has been visited by council inspectors.

Officials were called to the £6million pad after complaints about reconstruction work, needed after builders made a catalogue of error's on the Manchester United stars Harwood home.

It had been finished in time for his wedding to Emma Hadfield last June but diggers recently returned to the house, which has been covered by scaffolding.

Residents contacted Bolton Council fearing the building was being extended. Neville, aged 32, had made enquiries to the council last year about an extension.

Planning inspectors went to check what was going on but found all the works were permitted under planning permission granted in 2004.

Faults with the building include missing cavity wall ties, missing cavity insulation, windows that had not been made or fitted properly and wrongly fitted roof tiles.

It is unknown how much money the repairs will cost but work is expected to take until at least June.

The mansion includes a swimming pool, jacuzzi, home cinema and seven garages.

Cllr Sean Hornby, chairman of Bolton Council's planning committee, said: "It is quite clear from the works needed to be undertaken that the original builders had not carried out the work properly.

"I am satisfied that everything is in order but understand the concerns that residents had, as the amount of work being done to the property clearly looked from outside that additional work was being undertaken.

"I will ask our planning enforcement officers to keep an eye on the situation and report back to me periodically."
