Manchester United defender Jonny Evans was on Wearside on Friday morning to complete a loan move to Sunderland until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old Northern Ireland international has returned to the Black Caps where he spent the second half of the club's Coca-Cola Championship title campaign last season.

Manager Roy Keane said: "We agreed with United on Thursday for Jonny Evans to come up.

"He is here now and available for Saturday, so that's a start."

He added: "Jonny did very well for us last year.

"I spoke to him and am looking forward to seeing him."

Evans was arrested and bailed last month in connection with an alleged rape at Manchester United's Christmas Party.
