Manchester City manager Mark Hughes will have a £65 million transfer chest after taking over at Eastlands.
He will be unveiled to the media today after agreeing a three-year deal.
The Lancashire Telegraph can reveal that Hughes met City representatives at the Chesterfield Mayfair in London on Tuesday night.
The meeting lasted six-and-a-half hours and eventually finished at 3.30am.
City's executive chairman Gary Cook said: "Mark is the brightest young manager in the game and he was our number one target for the manager's job.
"He made it clear to us that he shared our vision to make Manchester City one of the top sides in the country."
