DAVID Dunn must be wondering what has he done wrong at the moment – he probably isn’t the only one either.

The Blackburn Rovers midfielder has been left on the fringes of things as the side struggle to find form in the Championship. If he can’t get into this midfield, when will he ever feature?

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that the personnel so far deployed in the centre of the park, in both a two and a three, have not come up to scratch.

Danny Murphy and Dickson Etuhu have struggled to hit top form while Mauro Formica has continued to have no impact on most matches he plays in.

It has to be said some of the abuse Murphy has received from small sections of supporters is out of order. There is no lack of effort from the former Fulham man – but it just isn’t working.

I am the first to admit I thought Murphy would prove one of the signings of the summer, and maybe he still will, but it must be demoralising for Dunn having to watch others struggle in his position.

For some reason, Dunn is now seen as a second striker. A position he is competing for with the likes of Nuno Gomes, Ruben Rochina and even Colin Kazim-Richards.

I can see why he isn’t getting a look in there but why not give him a chance in the centre of the park. His energy, drive and passion might just get something going.
