TEAM NEWS: Shearer willing to 'listen' to Venky's as Kazim returns
2:42pm Saturday 6th October 2012 in Sport
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
ALAN Shearer has said he would be willing to talk to Venky's about the vacant Blackburn Rovers managerial position, ahead of this afternoon's Championship visit of Wolves.
The former Ewood darling told the BBC earlier today he had had no contact at all with Rovers' owners but confirmed he would be wi.ling to listen if they approached him.
Meanwhile the biggest home crowd of the season is expected this afternoon as Eric Black takes charge of his first game at Ewood Park.
After a solid 30 minutes against Nottingham Forrest mid-week, Colin Kazim Richards makes his first start for Rovers since his return from injury. Nuno Gomes drops to the bench.
Rovers will continue with their 3-5-2 formation, with Grant Hanley, Scott Dann and Gael Givet forming a central defensive three.
ROVERS:Robinson, Orr, Olsson, Givet, Formica, Murphy, Dann, Rhodes, Hanley, Kazim Richards. SUBS Nunes, Dunn, Pederson, Etuhu, Rochina, Gomes, Kean (GK)
WOLVERHAPTON WANDERERSl Stearman, Henry, Ebanks-Blake, Sako, Ward, Johnson, Berra, Davis, Doumbia, Foley. Subs: Nouble, Jonsson, Zubar, Batth, Forde, Margeitter, McCarey (GK)

Only has 10 men
Lowe is also in the team
That is only 4 players in the team that are not principally defenders, and of course, you have Orr as a wing back

Compared to some of the names being tossed around on here surely Shearer would be a great shout? He only left us when we lost our ambition and we replaced Kenny with Ray, I never blamed him for that. I have been a Rovers supporter for 50 years and he’s the best player I’ve ever seen in blue and white halves (although my heart pulls for Bryan Douglas!). What appeals to me is that he is a big name and would bring us a high profile, he’d attract good players and command respect from those we’ve already got. More importantly he wouldn’t even consider taking the job unless Venky’s gave him assurances about non-interference in football matters – he wouldn’t take any crap and is big enough to walk away if they (or Singh) start to meddle. I can’t understand why so many fans are against him?
Black and Hendry look like a couple of hedgehogs in the middle of the road with a Robin Reliant heading straight for them.

The situation isn't going to turn around overnight when you've had someone managing the football side of things who is out of their depth.
The club needs the fans behind them.

We used 6 defenders again today what s##t. And we are at home
Get fxxking real
If You don't put pressure on the opposition you won't score
Statistic facts the last 2 games, there goal keepers have had just
5 shots to save in 180 minutes of football
We have got 2 points out of the last 12
Lost the last 2 home game
Promotion you got to be kidding

1. Shearer (manager) & possibly Newell as his number 2.
2. Hendry and Black relieved of their duties.
3. John Williams brought back to replace Shebby Singh.
Is it too much to ask??

McCarthy, seriously? Poor manager.
Ambitious, talented, articulate, winner - solskjaer would be ideal but we'd be lucky as hell to get him.

If a genie popped up in front of me now and could grant me 3 wishes:

Today was an absolute disaster...everythin
g about us was poor....!!
For sure Black is not a manager let alone the coach we need.....!!!
Poor Performance, tactics and certainly no Management was written all over this BRFC team. .....!
Why play 5 in defense.......at home.......??????
BRFC need a manager and someone who is able to motivate the team and get the results that BRFC require week in, week out..
He has to be a Real, tried and tested manager with the contacts in the game.
And he'll have to bring in some decent players as we are short of quality and we need to get rid of the crap ones....
A proper manager not just some idiot or someone who is simply a coach.
BRFC have many times in their past appointed coaches as managers and this has always failed.
We def. need a real manager who can manage.
We need a manager who can bring in the right players
as today it showed how poor we are.................
...we surely need a defense and someone to replace Murphy as hes too old and past it.
BRFC should not never buy players over 30 unless they are exceptional.

a bald mug - not unlike Kean really
Second, I was at Forest mid week and Eric Black and the Orc Colin Hendry stood about like stuffed dummies not having a clue. this as you know is 100% true
But do you know who that reminded me of?
Alan Shearer when he managed Newcastle for 8 games! He used to stand on that touch line like an absolute fool who didn't know what to do next. A spectator, just hoping that his side would stop getting their a.rses thrashed,
Shearer is no Steve Kean. He is worse. He isn't HALF the man Steve Kean was. I am not kidding and you know in your hearts that it is true.

Who does he think he is? Alex Ferguson?
You've got some opinion of yourself there Shearer given your record as Newcastle manager.
Alternatively that may be his way of telling Venkys that he won't be dancing to the same tune that the charlatan did. I'd have Shearer as manager only if he brought Dowie and especially Newell with him. Newell was doing good stuff at Luton and would soon expose any nefarious antics of certain agents who like to tell fairytales.

I`m Alan Shearer I`m a football manager , "no" your not, "your" Alan Shearer a ex top English striker.
Leave football management to those that have walked the walk .Shearer can talk the talk but as far as management has not yet walked the walk.
Shearer why don`t you go to Hartlepools/Darlingt
on do what Fergie/Wenger and other great managers did , start at the bottom and learn to be a manager there and if you do O.K. there ,then you can apply to be the manager at Rovers.

Fact is:
1) Venky,s will always need advice re Football
2) Singh tells us HE is the man to find to right person....what qualify,s him to now being suddenly the wise man of Ewood.... I DO NOT KNOW....!!!!!
BIG QUESTION BEING IS "WHAT WISDOM IS THERE WITHIN THE CLUB RIGHT NOW" !!!!
3) Without the Anderson/Kean influence and THEIR appointments being totally removed there is NO new beginning.
4) The weakened state that Kean has left the playing staff in, it will need time AND MONEY to bring to up to "promotion" level.
Can you see the Venky,s opening up, to allowing a top quality experienced Manager to have his own structure & staff in place PLUS - PLUS backing him 100% with transfer money URGENTLY needed ?!?!?!
I see a need for a minimum of 3/4 top quality new "young" players in January to give an instantly needed boost to the squad....that is only if we can stay within 10 points of the top teams by Christmas !!!
SHEBBY...I FOR ONE AM NOT HOLDING MY BREATH....BUT WHEN ARE WE GOING TO HEAR YOUR WORDS OF WISDOM....TIME IS VERY CRITICAL INDEED AND THIS IS NO TIME FOR PROCASTINATION !!!!
