Shaw: We have to move on at Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn Rovers ' managing director Derek Shaw insists the club now have to move on after last night's shock resignation of boss Steve Kean.

Shaw insists no one at the club knows why Kean decided to quit on the eve of this afternoon's Championship trip to Charlton but preferred to focus on the future.

Shaw admitted the club had already received interest from a couple of potential replacements and assured supporters they would be kept informed.

He confirmed Eric Black would be taking charge of first team affairs for the immediate future.

Shaw told the BBC, “I think he had just had enough, I don't know. None of us know that. It might have been conversations with his owners, it might have been conversations with his wife or his advisors.

“Steve has decided to move on and Blackburn Rovers have to move on. There has been enough said.

“I think it's right that the fans are kept informed but we will announce any updates when we're ready to.

"Every managerial appointment is important and there's one or two interested names come through already."

Kean informed Rovers' players of his resignation at the team hotel in London last night.

For more reaction, analysis and Rovers' future see Monday's Lancashire Telegraph.

I think we should help venkys by giving them a list of suitable replacements, just so we don't have to go on strike again!
Souness would be my preference.

Just seen Kean's SEM collegues Merson and Charle Nicholas on Sky. No surprised to hear them still supporting him and slagging off the supporters. Merson actually said that the fans should accept that Rovers should have been relegated and are at the level they should be. Nice comments from a cocaine snorting alchoholic with a gambling addiction. He'd be better getting his own house in order before critisizing others. Both these two drink out of the same trough (literally) as Kean so no surprise their support of him.

KEAN RESIGNS ON LEGAL ADVICE
Steve Kean dramatically resigned at 5.30 pm on Friday.
But with all things Kean it was not so simple as it seems.
Whilst all sports channels both TV and radio had pundits, personality’s and former players all queuing up to express their sympathy for Kean and the treatment he has had to endure these past weeks, the true picture is much different.
In a meeting earlier on Friday with chief executive Derek Shaw and Director Paul Agnew, Kean had expressed his determination to carry on regardless. Despite the damage his continued presence was doing to the club and more important the attendances, Kean had every intention of riding out the storm with the full backing of Shaw and Agnew, and had hoped to oust his arch enemy Shebby Singh.
Kean knew that Singh himself was getting frustrated and disillusioned in his efforts to remove Kean and bring in a new manager. With the Rao family continually stalling and being indecisive (so what’s new) Singh was considering his position.
However Kean’s position changed in mid-afternoon after allegedly taking a phone call from his agent Jerome (the man who ruined Blackburn Rovers) Anderson and his legal team.
Kean was advised to resign, saying his position was “untenable” and poignantly added that he could not say any more “for legal reasons”.
Those reasons, I can reveal, are that Kean is to sue the Venky Company and the Rao family for constructive dismissal and squeeze every penny that he can from them.
Mrs Anuradha Desai is about to see Kean in his true colours. She is going to learn about Kean what we all know, and that is that Kean is a very devious man.
Mrs Desai has issued a statement saying “she is disappointed with Kean’s action”. She is going to get a lot more disappointed as Kean plans to plunder the family fortune. And he will succeed.
The evidence of this last week is stacked in favour of Kean as the situation could not have been more badly handled by the Venky’s.
The solution was quite simple but Mrs Desai refused to grasp it. She should have sacked Kean and pay up his contract. Venky’s had every justification to do so, his record is appalling, the worst Blackburn manager ever and lost half the fans (Venky’s customers) from the club.
No arguments, no legal action for wrongful dismissal, a straight forward uncomplicated procedure. Kean would not have had a case or reason to complain.
But no, Venky’s huffed and puffed particularly Mrs Desai and played into Kean and Anderson’s hands. It will cost her a fortune, serves her right, but it will impact on Rovers financial stability. I have warned Mrs Desai on several occasions that Kean would ‘bite the hand that fed him’, but she has ignored all advice from everyone.
In one National newspaper today Kean talks of being “stabbed in the back”. That’s rich coming from Kean, if he wants to talk about being stabbed in the back, give Sam Allardyce a call and ask him what it’s like.
Mrs Anuradha Desai has ‘egg on her face’ big time. She has given Kean wealth beyond his wildest dreams. Kean, a ‘jobbing coach’, hit the jackpot at the Rovers. Never could he have envisaged earning the salary he has been paid as an imposter at the Rovers, a reported £1.3 million per annum.
Now he is going to ‘bite the hand that fed him’.
Mrs Desai, you have been stitched up! As I have repeatedly warned you Kean would.
And now Kean is going to squeeze you dry.
ENJOY.
Reg.
Footnote:
May I respectfully suggest to Mrs Desai that she has no more dealings with Jerome Anderson and his agency and listens more to her brothers Ventkatesh and Balaji but more so Shebby Singh, who in a short space of time has picked up on the mood of the supporters, something she has never done. It would not be a bad idea to take more note of Andy Cryer in the Lancashire Telegraph and Reg of course!!

Whatever manager is appointed, Venkys MUST get the message that a Venkys' or an Anderson yes-man will only lead to the same protests by the Rovers fans. Rovers fans are not stupid. We know much more than Sky Sports pundits. We love our club. We KNOW that a good independent manager who makes his own decisions and directs all footballing matters is a MUST. Anything less and the fans will vote with their feet again until BRFC is run in a proper sensible manner again.

"Let the Directors, direct." Come on, they couldn't direct traffic into the car park at Ewood. How can they 'direct' things from India - Shaw and Agnew were North End rejects, so whose left?. Mrs. D and her brothers have been stitched up by "I was forced to resign" Kean because they (she) dithered and were / are "absent owners". Supporters (what's left of them) have been well and truly stitched up, long ago. Let's see the "Directors" (owners) act like that, admit their mistakes and make a positive move and get rid of the whole 'old' regime. They should bring in a brand new, professional / qualified team, starting with a proper Chief Executive (no "Global Advisor" please) and a proper football manager (no coach). As for Shaw, if he wants to move, then he should close the door on his way out of Ewood.

PS: Is Kean's Bodyguard still employed at Rovers? - perhaps he has been re-assigned to guard Colin Hendry, who appears to be coming in for some stick from all quarters (perhaps Colin is next to 'resign').

So I ask - be sure to make the correct appointment and speak wisely into the ears of the wet one's over in Pune. Inform them of the very real nature of BRFC and not the idiotic dream of some ! So you are saying that the fans who boycotted games, who shouted for Kean Out and who could see the corruption and sh1te running right through the club were "seeking to disrupt the club"?

Read what you wrote. You are saying that if Venkys appoint another yes man as manager, we should all be good fans and not say anything. Mr Sit On The Fence, the management, directors and staff have screwed up this club royally. And now, just because Kean has gone, you think everything is alright!

I made no mention of disrupting the club, booing or protesting without good cause. YOU mentioned that because that is your perception of the majority of Rovers fans. The Rovers fans will do whatever they want. They will not follow like sheep. They are all individuals who can make up their own minds. The know a lot about football and BRFC.

So I state again what we I have observed for the last 2 years - if Venkys appoint the wrong manager, a yes-man with no experience and no independence, Venky's will once again incur the wrath of the fans. It is inevitable, it is obvious that fans will stay away if the new man is just a continuation of the same kind of manager. I am not encouraging anybody to protest, it will just come naturally, so Venky's MUST appoint the right manager.

You don't know what will happen. You don't know what being realistic is in this situation. You don't know what is happening behind the scenes. We have been lied to over and over again. Venkys are guilty of many lies, as was Kean. Do you really trust such people to appoint a board who will do anything other than what Venkys want? They have their yes-men in place, but Kean became untenable. He had to go. He resigned? On the surface, yes. But we don't know if it wasn't just another ploy to take the heat of Venkys. Kean is still a shareholder, it is likely he will still have an influence. This is far from over. We can cannot just "let the club do its job". The club is ruined, corrupted, still on the brink of collapse. Kean out is the first step. There are many more that need to be taken.

That is what I see from all that is written. We all hope that there is goodness and humanity that will rise to the surface, but the resignation / negotiations of Kean alone does not guarantee this. Fans still have a big part to play in this.

Mr.Kean was probably one of the worst managers Blackburn have ever had but I don't think anyone deserved the abuse that he got after all it was the Venky's who gave him the job. For them to appoint a manager without any knowledge of the game was a disaster waiting to happen, they sacked Big Sam when they should have waited to learn what the game was all about and take advise from people who could have helped them. Even now after the event one has to ask why did they let him spend all that money only to remove him after half a dozen games. I think it shows they still have a lot to learn so the fans should not expect too much to soon.

If you think about it, it could not have gone any better for him.
He has not been sacked, he has determined his own destiny, he is/can blame others totally, he is/will be far richer coming out of this than he could have ever dreamt. He will be paid off a very handsome undisclosed out of court settlement by Venkys (how many is that now? , do these people never learn???).
It begs the question of who actually leaked the claimed/alledged sacking letter/memo, don't you think???

Don't take any notice of the Sky monkeys. I was getting angry but managed to persuade myself to treat it with total indifference.

Nicholas was particularly nauseating. His diatribe about what Kean had done was, almost verbatim, what Kean himself came out with earlier in the year when explaining the owners' actions.

"We had become a selling club...too high a wage bill....had to clear the debt" blah de blah de blah. Remember?

And Merson? What a pr!ck. He always gave the impression he wasn't the the sharpest knife in the drawer when he was a player. I think that has been pretty much confirmed whilst he's been embarrasing himself every Saturday afternoon on Sky.

I've already said wait for the "I was the victim" campaign to begin, Kean's already set it in motion. "My position had become untenable" my ar$e.

Looks like it's picking up momentum.

If the rest of parrasites that have destroyed this club could resign then I really could rejoice.

I suppose we all have to ask ourselves,

Are we only concerned with being in the Premier League
or

Do we actually want to be part of our club and our Town and our future and wherever that takes us!
