Kean's hanging on...just
10:00am Tuesday 25th September 2012 in Sport
STEVE Kean was still clinging to his job last night as the decision to relieve him of his managerial duties appeared to be put on hold.
The Rovers boss was believed to have been facing the sack on Monday morning but a late stay of execution from club owner Anuradha Desai has left the Ewood Park outfit in limbo.
The Lancashire Telegraph understands the owners were ready to sack Kean after lengthy talks between themselves over the weekend, with the offer of a new role at the club an option, but a last-minute phone call yesterday delayed the announcement.
Sources close to the owners remain adamant Kean’s time as Rovers boss is coming to an end but fear it could be a few weeks before a change is finally executed.
It is unknown what changed Desai’s mind at the last minute or whether Kean himself has spoken to the owners since yesterday morning.
The search for a new manager is understood to be continuing as co owners Balaji and Venkatesh Rao plan for a future without Kean in the hot seat.
Spurs coach and Rovers’ former Premier League winning skipper Tim Sherwood is understood to be high up in Venky’s thoughts, with global advisor Shebby Singh spotted at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
Singh declined to comment when approached by the Lancashire Telegraph yesterday, as did other club officials, with people inside the club bewildered by the latest happenings.
Kean himself took training at Brockhall yesterday as he continues to fight for his future and could well still be in charge for Saturday’s trip to Charlton and the game at Nottingham Forest the following Wednesday.
Players and staff remain in the dark as Kean himself stayed tight lipped on his future.
Rovers fans have reacted angrily to the latest uncertainty being shown by their owners, having already voted with their feet at the start of this season.
Crowds have been significantly down at Ewood Park this campaign, despite Rovers’ lofty position towards the top of the Championship, with supporters venting their frustration vocally during matches.
People within Ewood fear the atmosphere around the club will only got worse for as long Kean remains at the helm, having seen him survive a disastrous management tenure.
Kean has been on the brink of the axe several times before during his Rovers’ managerial career but each time has been granted a late reprieve by club matriarch Desai.
Meanwhile, Rovers’ Championship home game against Cardiff has been brought forward to Friday December 7, kick off 7.45pm, for television.

Keans job was never under threat, it's just another carrot to dangle infront of the very very angry fans.
I have a season ticket but even i'm staying away from the next home game if Kean is still in charge. Venky's will only sack him when the stadium is empty. If you do go to the next home game then SHOUT for 90 minuites for KEAN and DESAI's heads.

Despite the fact that you are hated by the customers of your company who want you out.
Despite the fact that your very presence is severely damaging a 137 year old institution.
Despite the fact that you are a household name because of your failings and ineptitude.
Despite all that and more Steve you hang on in there.
Steve you haven't an ounce of dignity or honour. You are a disgusting slimy low life of a human being. You wonder why you are hated.
Let me tell you Steve it's not because of relegation or results. It's because of the person you are.

Why ia Steve Kean still employed as manager of BRFC?
a) He has part ownership of the club in some way?
b) Venky's handed all football matters over to Jerome Anderson (as we know, Kean is one of his clients so he won't sack him).
c) The long term plan of Venky's is to asset strip and Kean is involved in this plan to be their "yes man" throughout the 3 or 4 year process (for those who say look at the investement this season - look at the money received from players sold)
d) All of the above?
There cannot be any logical or genuine reason why they would want to continue with this man at the helm when he clearly is HATED by all fans - 50% of which are NO LONGER paying customers. This goes way beyond football - as another poster said, it's the vile and arrogant nature of the man that makes our blood boil together with his complete incompetence - we would all have been sacked from our jobs long ago if we so blatantly failed with our responsibilities.

We are supposed to believe that the Rao brothers, the one's who are supposed to be interested in football, want Kean sacked. Their sister, who has no interest, wants to keep Kean on. No-one knows why, but presumably it is for the following reasons: he has a terrible record as manager, he established the record breaking longest run of a top flight club failing to keep a clean sheet, he has relegated the club thereby reducing it's value by tens of millions, he has alienated supporters and many are refusing to attend home games before he leaves, he is about to be sued by a former Rovers manager for a slander he made when on official Rovers business.
All of these actions have hit Blackburn Rovers very hard in the pocket, so why should we believe that supposed astute business people think it is even an option for Kean to remain, when just one of those actions would see any other manager dismissed.
There has to be more to it than this nonsense about Desai having a soft spot for Kean, as this just makes no sense at all. Also the option that Kean may be found other duties within the club must point to Kean having some controlling interest? Why would any club keep such a hated figure at the club when that would clearly be unacceptable to their own supporters.
We need some answers Andy.

Mrs Desai finally summoned up the courage to sack our clown of a manager, only for something to block the road. I have it on good authority, that Kean was sacked, but wouldn't accept the owners decision. There is a letter, with Mrs Desai's signature on it, authorising Kean's removal, which has been leaked and which is more damning than the John Williams and Paul Hunt letters combined. It adds further proof to the theory that someone else is ultimately calling the shots at Blackburn and that person is closely connected to Kean. You can work out who that is.

Last year the well organised marches highlighted through the media the strength of feeling the supporters have about Kean. This is just an idea, but it will get media attention and hammer home to Venkys how strong the feelings are.
On the day of the next home match on 06/10/2012 V Wolves, Accrington host Rochdale. If Kean is still in charge, what I would suggest is that a march takes place at 1pm arriving at the ground at 1.30pm. From there Coaches are arranged to transport the fans who are anti Kean to the Accrington Match. I'm not too sure what the capacity is for the Crowne ground and how many fans will do this, but if Stanley get a record gate and we have massive hoels on the Ewood terraces the publicity would be tremendous. I am not a commitee member for BRFCS action group, but if they want to back this and appoint a spokesman, I feel sure this will have an impact.
I know this idea is not flawless, but would ask for feedback on this.

In short, they have their own peculiar blinkered view on what needs to be done, and listening to supporters who insist on boycotting isn't one of them. bornindarwenliveinnoSpot on mate. They are all in this together and Kean is a key part. The late phone call might have been from Tim Sherwood (or other ex-Rover) saying he'd thought about it but changed his mind and would not come back to Blackburn for love nor money. Venkys think that getting ex-Rovers on their side will help them with the fans and it might be true although Hendry has had an opposite effect. If you can think of an old loyal ex-Rover who might be easily manipulated, there's your next Rovers manager.

c) The long term plan of Venky's is to asset strip and Kean is involved in this plan to be their "yes man" throughout the 3 or 4 year process (for those who say look at the investement this season - look at the money received from players sold)
d) All of the above?
There cannot be any logical or genuine reason why they would want to continue with this man at the helm when he clearly is HATED by all fans - 50% of which are NO LONGER paying customers. This goes way beyond football - as another poster said, it's the vile and arrogant nature of the man that makes our blood boil together with his complete incompetence - we would all have been sacked from our jobs long ago if we so blatantly failed with our responsibilities.

It is ironic that the people who claim to be the proper supporters and have the, through thick and thin mentality are actually the only people who are keeping Kean in a job.
The fact of the matter is, the supporters who claim they are only supporting the club, actually support an institution that is similar in location only to that of Jack Walker and the Walker legacy. It is the fans who hide behind the shroud of "I support the club not Kean", when really they are protecting their Saturday out drinking with their mates who make the Venky's financial decision to keep Kean easier. Utter hypocrisy.

See the situvation is nice to sack, but not happening, Madam will take the decision always in favour of S.Kean, because he is doing good, just two points away, those two points lost because of a own goal in our first match.
Because of the own goal(Jason Lowe own goal at the end of the game aganist Ispitch), Kean is getting a life to stay in BRFC, otherwise S.Kean's target of getting 16 points was a "perfect game"

The club is a total circus. Kean is a lying, scheming, manipulating scumbag, who smirks his way through press conferences and answers every question thrown at him by giving an answer that doesn't relate to the question! And nearly everyone has fallen for it. You can work out who that is.

bornindarwenliveinnoSpot on mate.

With the squad we have assembled most decent managers will relish the opportunity as they should believe it will be difficult to fail and can also strengthen further in January. The only thing that may put many off is the farcical and naive behaviour of the owners
I renewed my season ticket but now believe the clearest message to Mrs Desai would be for all supporters to boycott the Wolves match. Surely that will get the publicity to force her hand and it appears this would support the views of her brothers and Singh. It will also prove to her that the depth of feeling about Kean lies within the vast majority of Rovers fans.
This is the opportunity for the owners to win back some trust from the supporters and to have a new beginning. The problem with this latest reprieve is what happens if he gets a win at Charlton and we sit at the top of the Championship as we all make our plea to sack him?

If a club (or any other business) allows speculation about their manager they then have to sack him.
You cannot say you might sack him - as then if he does stay you end up affecting the team (employees) and the preparation for the next game as players think they can slack off as a new manager is coming in.
This is as incompetent as it gets. Total shambles.

Someone should burst that bubble that Steve Kean has been living in, sooner rather than later. Today's admission by Singh does the club no favors either.
Wouldn't mind seeing Timmy Sherwood given a chance to get us up, always liked him as a player and think he's quite intelligent and should have infinitely more about him then Kean. Although he left us for spurs I never held a grudge about it like some people have. Much prefer Tim to Alan 'I have no association to rovers' Shearer any day of the week. And yes I do hold a grudge, not for Shearer leaving but for his nonsensical ravings on MOTD with his cronies slamming Rover's fans clearly without knowing any facts. Also I don't think he'd make a good manager but that's my own opinion.
Come on Mrs Desai, give us all the best news you could right now... I'll be waiting here with bells on!

Football is our sport, but it should sometimes be a good experience for us spectators. How many of you that went down last Friday left Ewood feeling like you had seen a good match ?
We have a few players who are not good enough, but enough decent ones that a good manager could mould into a team. Kean said that he finally got "his" team assembled and now you will see the results. This is it ?

Removal of Kean may lift the spirits of all but I fear until Venkys leave the club as such will never prosper
We just want the football club back they can their money out if that is what is needed. To see and hear fan against fan and being criticised in the press isserving no useful purpose other than to destroy the club.
PWGC85 says.
Good to see the so called signed letter - where has it been leaked to?
All I can say is that not one fan can be benefiting from this uncertainty and the same goes for the players one feels for them too

To LP: Little bit of fact for you.
Whilst there has been mentions of fans staying away and low attendances which have been a concern for Venky's, it has been openly admitted and widely advertised in the press that the supporter disenchantment has, along with the the poor performance been the main catalyst for this recent sacking story.
Whilst I accept the stay away option as also having an impact, it has been nowhere near the effective as the mood on the terraces which has gotten the attendance of Desai. So when you berate those who stand in the terraces and weather the storm - and boy have we - with the labels and negative coverage the press have given us, whilst safely tucked in your nice warm home shaking a fist at the tv and blasting us on here, remember when Kean is gone and you all return to enjoy better times who got us there.

Kean disappeared and could not be contacted Sun evening as he had been tipped off that the sack was looming. His wife rang Mrs Desai and pleaded for her not to sack him, apparently they have a strong personal relationship. By the time he resurfaced Sunday evening, Venkys had agreed to put off a decison (for the time being).
Don't pretend to know if any of that is true but that's what I've been told.
If this was a soap nobody would beleive it.

I just live in hope that a guy with supposed integrity, honor and self respect would do the honorable thing and resign considering the position he finds himself in along with this untold pressure, he again, his supposed to be under ?
He his in my opinion a abject careerist with no link whatsoever with the club. His was/is another step on his ladder with a background that beggars belief, and in no way justifies his poisonous tenure of BRFC.
It would be funny if it wasn't so feckin tragic what the club and it's supporters have had to go through. And I ask for what ?

5000 more a game brings about 100k a game, 5 home games every 2 months, 9 months a season....that's a few million and Kean can be negotiated out for better than that.. Throw in some merchandising and beer/pies - the club is quids in. Why don't the Boycotters do something constructive for the club and organize to turn up to a reserve game - clear demo that you will turn up when Kean is not in charge of the team....and it's positive support to the club. Lets take a look at what is happening to our beloved BRFC..
Kean gets us relegated.
Statistically one of the worse mangers in BRFC history.
Statistically one of the worst managers in English history at this level
He has caused a split between the fans.
He is causing major embarrassment to BRFC.
He is causing major embarrassment to the fans of BRFC
He is causing major embarrassment to the town of Blackburn.
Sections of the media are having a go at BRFC fans because of him
The general public are having a go at BRFC fans because of him.
He has dragged BRFC to the gutter and is squeezing the life out of us.
AND YET
This person is sticking two fingers up in the face of every BRFC fan and townspeople of Blackburn, that is the measure of the man. Kean has not shown one ounce of dignity, he knows that if he walked away from the club then a healing process could begin for the fans, fans can unite, the club can begin a new chapter and Blackburn can start looking forward to a new period and BRFC would be in the spotlight for the right reasons and yet Keane refuses to do that and for that I absolutely despise the man and everything about him. This man is laughing in our faces and at our club, if he remotely cared about BRFC and the fans he would have resigned months ago, Kean is laughing all the way to the bank at our expense.
All Blackburn fans now need to act, a total boycott is needed for the next home match to show the world we are united and that we want this joke of a manager out of our club, our town and our lives for good.

The boycott is having a very good effect that hurts Venkys far beyond the immediate loss of gate receipts. It makes them figures of ridicule. If the Spartans must turn up at Ewood Park, although I cannot imagine what pleasure they derive from it, then the best thing they can do, as with the away fans, is to demonstrate against Mama Venky (and don't hold back).

The only thing - negative reaction or not - that the media mention is the Kean Out chants and fans not happy at the games. Listen to the media and stop deluding yourself.

The Kean chants have been the norm for two seasons now, so don't flatter yourself.
Attendances are the most obvious measure of satisfaction, it's not rocket science, try to keep up.
Paying a disshonest setup, then saying you don't like them is a bit strange, but understandable when they own the club you support, but don't try to take the high ground it doesn't suit.

I think you'll find if people change their mind and support the cheats, that will be fickle - could be wrong, but think I'm right.
If you were a Rover's fan you must have been going for at least one or two seasons now if you can see anything but liars and chancers running the club.
Maybe you're the new breed of fan, which bases you respect for the owners on a few lucky results, good luck to you and a few others.
Don't, call honest suffering fans for not being able to block out the tradgedy of our situation. It's not fickle, it's a fact.

If you'd actually had a shot against Spurs and Wigan( in the famous chicken game!) then you might have had a chance.
90 minutes without a shot and you're still blaming Agent Kean.

You fickle, impatient part-time "fans" and full-time whingers are a disgrace, an embarrassment to the club, as the media has so rightly pointed out the past few weeks.
You don't even sing when we're winning! Pathetic!
If you had any history with this once proud club you'd not be so condesnding towards people who choose to be the oposite of fickle and stay away until the job is done.

There's a group of people who have made a lot of money out of our beloved club and there's nothing we can do about it. Coventry fans made plenty of protests about their owners...but what happened? Nothing.
Kean's sacking will happen soon but he'll still be involved from within, I only hope we get an experienced manager rather than go for the sentimental choice. We do have some decent players in our squad and the right manager will get the results. McCarthy could be an option.
I'll be at ewood for the next game because I support the team and a couple of thousand fans boycotting will sadly not make any difference.

He was only telling the fans what they wanted to hear.
People on here keep asking Singh to pull the trigger, what's the point if he's only firing blanks?
Frontman, mouthpiece, nobody.
It does seem the low attendances have at least caught their attention though. Now, I'm not pro or anti staying away or going and will not criticise or abuse fans from either camp but I'm afraid the time has come for a full boycott. The next home game at least but preferably until these idiots grow some and bring this whole sorry affair to an end.

He's as good as gone. He knows it, Venkys know it. Fans just want it confirming.
Unless you're a caveman you will know the biggest impact has been the half empty stadium, they can live with a lot of noise and banter.
The only thing - negative reaction or not - that the media mention is the Kean Out chants and fans not happy at the games. Listen to the media and stop deluding yourself.
Singh told BBC Radio Lancashire "It should not have been allowed to escalate like that but it did and the situation gets worse by the day.
Financially now it is not a good situation because the fans are staying away. The club needs revenue to survive."

Don't, call honest suffering fans for not being able to block out the tradgedy of our situation. It's not fickle, it's a fact.
