Kean focuses on the positives
10:34pm Friday 21st September 2012 in Sport
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
STEVE Kean insists his Blackburn Rovers side have to focus on the positives - despite admitting his side were off the pace again this evening.
The Rovers boss conceded his side were not at their best as they crashed 2-1 at home to Middlesbrough but reiterated his belief they would get promoted.
He said: "I felt they asked more of us than we did of them. Our performance was not great tonight but I would prefer to focus on the positives.
"If we continue with the points average we have got so far this season, we will get promoted and that is what we all want.
"Even though we did not play well tonight, if Scott Dann's header had gone in or we got the penalty we should have, we might even have got more than a draw."

Formica barely touched the ball when he came on. And why was nothing changed all the time we were 2-0 down and getting dominated at home by Middlesbrough?
Murphy was awful tonight. He thinks he's some kind of conductor, arrogantly flailing his arms ordering people around as if he's some kind of footballing professor. Is he a deep lying playmaker? If so, he's not fit to lace tugay's boots. I don't understand what his attributes are and what his job is.
The true captain of our team is robbo. We were only effective when he was the playmaker. What does that tell you about how far we've come since kean came in?

He prefers to focus on positives then talks bout if dann had scored and if we had got the penalty!!! Ifs and buts have always been the basis of his thinking. If you had bought a decent defence and if you and youyr maye Hendry could organise a defence, we wouldn't keep conceding goals Steve. What a moron
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream---and not make dreams your master;
If you can think---and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:.
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings---nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And---which is more---you'll be a Man, my son!

I think it is absolutely shameful how Steve Kean as good as dismisses tonight's result by making a reference to our current points total. It doesn't excuse such a pitiful performance, especially when you consider that those points were accumulated in spite of equally shocking displays.
Speaking of normal service being resumed, did Kean freeze after we went two-nil down on the hour mark? Surely that would have been the time to hook Murphy or Etuhu - who were both dreadful - and bring on Rochina to form a three-pronged attack with Rhodes and Nuno Gomes.

The little commotion in the Boro end tonight was because 2 Boro fans had a "KEAN OUT" Banner, the police took exception to it and CS sprayed one of the lads, after he took a swing at a copper, not good.

There is the obvious rift between management, owners and fans, but there is a even bigger rift between the fans. We are a wreckage of a football club. If 3000 were chanting "Kean Out" another 7000 were very very unhappy about the chants. I believe at Bristol many Rovers fans were ejected from the ground for fighting amongst each other. Some people are boycotting matches, but many more are not going because of the miserable atmosphere.
We may recover on the pitch, although I doubt it, but Rovers as a club will never be the same again. Venkys may have been inexperienced owners who appointed an inexperienced manager into a job that was too difficult for him, but as yet there is still no evidence of financial wrong doing. You people from Brag carried on with your demonstrations even though you knew the majority of fans were against them . David Moyes said you were vile and disgusting, Alex Ferguson said you were a symptom of modern society, for once I agree with him.
I and many thousands of Rovers fans hold the people at Brag and the imbeciles who follow you responsible for turning our club into a wreckage. I hope you rot in hell.

My other half won't go because of the atmosphere last season. It sounds as though its much the same.

After which we have 2 away games to negotiate, one against promotion chasing Forest. By which time we will be outside the play-off places with Kean in charge.

Orr,wouldn't be considered in the top 40 and thats being generous
Givet , would proberbly get into most squads as cover in this league, but not a chance in the prem
Dann, is a reasonable centre half but immediately feels and shows it when he comes under pressure ,if there where others who could hold there own, he is a good asset
Olsoon, isn't a defender more of a wing back, he simply gets caught out being to far up the pitch
Hanley and Lowe, are good players who can only improve
Now what do Robbo Dann Givet Olsoon Orr have in common top premiership wage deals and despite transfer rumours , no other clubs would touch them
Nevermind pay a transfer fee
So it boils down to this, WE WILL CONSEED GOALS whilst these players are on the pitch fact they simply aren't good enough

Positives:
Grant Hanley, he was spot on. If he continues to play like that then I think we should have him as first choice in centre of defence. His insight and reactions were as I said simply spot on. I am sorry if people don't agree with this but there you go.
Fabio Nunes, a lot tougher than he looks and a great engine, certainly a good degree of skill too.
Robinson, he was busy tonight but he did a good job, no doubt.

Kean has to be replaced now to give us any chance of promotion this season. It's as simple as that.

The level of stress that has produced such an irrational outburst is surely not conducive to good mental health.
I would prescribe at least a season's long avoidance of Ewood Park (boycott).
I would also advise that the poster stops putting the cart before the horse and think about which comes first - the chicken or the egg?
The one thing I do agree with is that the hate between different groups of supporters is no good for any of us and anyone who hopes that their fellow imbeciles rot in hell seriously needs to question their belief that they are the voice of reason.
We all react to traumatic situations in different ways and the unrelenting lunacy of venky's and kean is permeating throughout the whole club - supporters included.
I do not know the answer to how we rid ourselves of those troublesome beasts but I hope that we all can at least understand, if not respect, how our fellow fans decide to act.
If things do not change then the boycott - whatever has motivated it on an individual level - will grow apace.

Kean responds to the dreadful performance against Barnsley with an equally abject display. Only this time there was no get out of jail card at the end. A real manager would have spent Wednesday and Thursday working with the team to ensure at the very least an improved performance and if this squad had played to its potential it would have got the three points.
People who blame Rovers supporters for the negative atmosphere need to take a look at themselves. Kean out chants took off once the game was lost . We have been dire in every one of the home games and for the majority of the away games. No wonder people are unhappy with the dross being served up.

The only positive that I could see from last night is that Rovers have, individually, got some good players. The problem is they are not a cohesive unit playing as a team. This can only be down to the lack of leadership within the club. We play without inspiration or creativity.

Yes it is all the fault of the Venky crew and especially Kean and not the fans. The owners created the horrible fans v club situation with keeping Kean in a job and they can end this situation (mostly) by sacking him.
But the fans (both the go's and the no-shows) need to get a grip, nothing is working regards the fans actions, the Kean Out shouts, the pre-match protests, the not going, it is so plain to see that none of it is working towards achieving the objective of getting Kean out.
Not sure what will work....there are no obvious solutions but what is happening now must stop. Maybe we do a full 180 degree turn and start packing the ground and backing the team. Vuckevic was a better player before he joined, had some bright moments right at the start and played very well against England in the international. He hasn't been the same since partly because he hasn't played. Where is he now? Our only natural right winger?
If Rochina had given the ball away as many times as Murphy did he would have never played ball again for Rovers. Rochina is our best passer and retains the ball very well despite the perception Kean has created for him.
Why not mirror the formation played against Arsenal and Man UTD when we beat them last year. Has Kean ever thought of that? In those games players like Rochina and Formica were playing in Position.
With Samba, Nzonzi, Hoilett and Yakubu gone plus Nelson, not sure how we have a better squad this year.

Great posts
So as we are not seen as suggesting change without suggesting replacements / solutions and their possible strengths in being able to turn things around the fans and the team.
You know what that Alan Brazil and Ronnie Orani and company are like.
Alan i think his name was a Blackburn fan was great on the radio during the week but when put on the spot by Mr Brazil did not have examples in order to articulate a reply.
It's Hoddle for me. Would be tactically astute, win over the fans, and be strong enough to stand for what is right.

The only positive that I could see from last night is that Rovers have, individually, got some good players. The problem is they are not a cohesive unit playing as a team. This can only be down to the lack of leadership within the club. We play without inspiration or creativity.
In my opinion, Rovers should be about mid table at the moment. I think that before long we will be there.
If they get a decent manager in now, then given the players we have, we'll go back up. Leave it until Christmas to see how things work out, I'm afraid that it'll be another year in the Championship

It's a strange theory - sorry, opinion - regarding the cause of the shambolic mess currently called Blackburn Rovers Football Club.
Quite how the supporters' concern for the way the club has been run or a proposed investigation into it can actually be considered to be the reasons for the "wreckage of a football club" is a little odd.
These are reactions to what has happened, not the cause of it.
There may not be any evidence of financial wrong doing (yet), but that is not necessarily the issue. But we wont know until it has been fully investigated, if there is sufficient evidence to suggest one is warranted in the first place.
There probably won't be; as Peter Scudamore said, whatever the shortcomings of the fit and proper test, the FAPL can't be held responsible for the owners turning out to be f@cking useless or for the bizarre decisions they make when running the club.
I don't think there will be any blatant financial impropriety, just naive irresponsible and inept management bordering on the negligent. There have however undoubtedly been some dubious appointments - one in particular - which would not require too much investigation. I kind of hope there have been accountable wrongdoings, if only for the satisfaction of being able to say "see we told you so". It would bring some kind of closure to the whole mess, although where it would leave us would be a worry. Such is the dilemma we face.
So, what can be done? Probably nothing which makes it all the more frustrating.
It is a touch presumptuous to say "many thousand" fans share your view ; unless there is a larger Swiss branch of the Rovers supporters club than I was aware of.
And the majority of the fans being against the protests? The majority may not have actively joined in the protests but that does not automatically mean they did not support them in principle.
Based on the reduced numbers attending games and the reaction of many that do, I would question the accuracy of Swiss Rover's figures whilst his assumptions are just plainly wrong.
A $hite atmosphere and disagreement between fans are the results of two years total mismanagement by the current owners of just about everything related to the club and its supporters, nothing else.

Make Ewood a hostile place to come to again for visiting teams, give the players encouragement instead of boos, and yes get 30,000 Rovers fans singing one song together - Kean Ou!t Then perhaps even the seemingly deaf Venkys may hear the message at last.
Didn't you say the chanting isn't working? Also, how is 30,000 fans calling for Kean's head going to help the players? After all, you're the one who suggested that the players aren't playing for the fans because of the disgraceful atmosphere. No wonder the rest of football are starting to think of Rover's fans as a laughing stock.masher50 wrote: The Championship is a long, hard slog of a season. Do you REALLY think you'll go the full season without being beaten a few times? When you go on a run of several loosing games, that's the time to moan.So despite a third season of evidence that Kean hasn't got the slightest clue on how to organise a defence, or an attack to penetrate a top-half Championship side, your advice is that he should be only be ditched after we have lost "several" (how many? 5/6/7?) games on the trot. By that time we will be looking for somebody keep us out of the relegation spots for a third season running.
It has been a good start on paper but the scorelines alone suggest nothing has changed apart from the quality of opposition. Match reports and comments on here suggest the same. We continue to concede plenty whilst relying on one or two decent players to pull us out of the proverbial; for Rhodes and Nuno Gomes read Hoilett and the Yak.
That cannot last and is not a realistic way to achieve what the owners claim to be their prime objective.
It is a long old season in the Championship and ending the first six games with a one or two point advantage means squat at this early stage.
The fact the owners have (albeit belatedly) thrown some cash around makes it all the more worrying.
There are plenty of teams already more than capable of taking advantage of the slow, disorganised and defensively fragile team we have put out this season and every week for the last eighteen months. This will become more apparent when they look past the supposed big names and the amount of money spent and realise Rovers are actually a bit of a soft touch.
It is a trend which if allowed to continue will result in a very expensive failure. The fate of the club will then be in the hands of our incompetent owners, which, given their efforts to date is very worrying.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions on what is happening, what should happen and what is actually going to happen but trying to make a divide between the fans is not doing us any good at all.
I personally havnt been on ewood since the fulham game last season (which we actually won with ten men) but have chosen not to go again until keane has gone.
Everyone is entitled to do what they deem best, be it support the club by attending or by not attending. It's the fans call and either way they should not be ridiculed for doing so.
Watching last nights game was embarrassing. we were clueless, awful, disorganised, slow (apart from the two up front who chased everything)
It reminded me of the spurs game away last season where keane did not have any idea at all how to change things when it was obvious things were not working.
We deservedly got beat. We could of easily lost more games this season when we have been outplayed but have had the luck, and that is the only reason why we were sitting pretty at the top of the league.
The gate last night was never 13k, just another ploy from the management to try and say the supporters are still with them.
I disagree with a lot of posts on here about thousands returning if keane got the sack.
It's well known that when season ticket holders don't renew then the majority won't return as they find something else to do.
We might get 2-3k back on a regular basis at first but it will take time to get them all back.
The future looks rather bleak unless something major happens very quick.

Lets all hope the Venkys put us out of our misery soon!!
I cant believe how Kean has managed to make what is a very good squad of players (for the championship) in to a group of players that look like they have never seen each other before.
I wish they would get shut of him.

What has happened to Shebby? He has gone very quiet. Has Kean's mafia had him kidnapped. Will he turn up with a horses head in his bed? Or is he busy seeking out Kean's replacement for Monday?

Hendry hasnt helped at all to improve our defence and I even feel Robbo has gone off the boil, he doesnt seem to be able to catch a ball anymore he has started punching, with two hands sometimes.
We are greatly missing the likes of Samba and Nelson and need to bring in a couple more defenders in January.
I just hope we get things together before we play the dingles, I will never live it down if they beat us at Ewood,
Time to get rid of donkey Keane, maybe Kenny would be up for the challenge, he is out of work at the moment, after all if big Sam can help a championship club why wouldnt King Kenny.

I won't argue Kean's record in the Prem, but so far this season you've had one of the best starts at this level for many years. Venkys put their hands in their pockets, and gave Rovers a transfer fund most championship clubs can only dream of. You're top of the division. Yet one defeat, and you're moaning as though it's the end of the world.

I don't like the division that's forming but frankly there's no right or wrong way.
Here's a thought.
The next time we play 2 home games backtoback is 24th and 27th October against Sheff wed and Watford.
Why don't we split the games to demonstrate that the fans are united.
We should ALL go to Sheff Wed and give the players a taste of our REAL support. Lets get 25000 on coz Wednesday will bring a few. Of course Kean Out can ring around Ewood at the end.
Then on Saturday, we ALL boycott the game for a crowd of under 5000.
THAT will send out a clear message to Venkys and the world that the fans are totally united.
Barnsley looked impressive today and Keith Hill's a Rover. We could have had Steve Bruce too!

Well done to the Spartans for keeping up the KEAN OUT chants. That was good to hear. However, the most effective action has to be that being taken by the Boycotters. The decision to remove Kean lies in the hands of the Venky's and if you put yourself in their shoes I think it is fairly obvious that they would much prefer to have the stadium full of dissenting fans, who have paid to enter, to having an empty stadium because of the boycott. Football is a business to Venkys and nothing hurts them more than the loss of gate receipts and the loss of sponsorship that follows it. Not only that, the empty stadium is personally embarrassing to Venkys in a way that chants against Kean are not because it is an enormous advert to the World that Venkys are failures, which is damaging to their other business interests and hurts their inflated egos. Believe me the boycott will be worrying Venky's greatly and puts the greatest pressure on Keans position. I would not be surprised when they get the match report if they look for the attendance before they look for the score.
Let's take some positive action by all joining together and stay away.
If you want the Klingon Kean out then . . .

Last night, they frequently highlighted the eagerness in which fans chanted Kean Out, the effect it has on players, how it isn't like a home game, how they don't get behind their team.they put Kean in a sympathetic light saying he can't win with the fans. Venkys hear this and get the wrong message. If those who go only to protest, stayed away for a couple of games, the message would be beter conveyed. Apparently the gate was much lower than that published
Dire.
No entertainment on the pitch = bored Darwen End scallies = busy stewards = scared young fans not keen to go again
Chanting 'Kean Out' when the Rovers go behind clearly demoralizes the players and doesn't help the team's performance.
What is clear is that if we ALL want the Klingon Kean out then we ALL must commit to carry out the same actions.

Well done to the Spartans for keeping up the KEAN OUT chants. That was good to hear. However, the most effective action has to be that being taken by the Boycotters. The longer the Venky,s stays wih this conman, who has had over two years of disasters after failures and still in a downhill spiral....then there will be a point of no return where permanent damage will see all being lost has far has their investment and best intentions are concerned.
If you can sack him then show your good intentions and bring in a quality "Team" management squad who will bring respect and address the many problems within the team right now.
Do not procastinate any longer....remember also, if you pay peanuts you get monkeys...then again, maybe has been prtly the problem within the Venky,s business culture-thinking !!

The action is designed to threaten damage to the club IF Venkys do not remove the greater damage Steve Kean. You are right to that extent. However, the Spartans are also damaging the club by supporting the corrupt, incompetent regime. The difference is that the Boycotters are aiming to inflict maximum damage over a short period in order to get rid of Kean (and the Venkys) and avoiding having the damage go on for a much more extended period and thereby probably amount to a greater wreckage. I think there is another difference that the two camps need to consider. I sense that the Boycotters would prefer to play in a lower league without Kean ( and the Venkys) than play in the Premiership with all that nonsense that surrounds the Venkys such as Kean, the Global Adviser, the contemptable Agnew and the thug Hendry, the constant slights to the paying customers.

This model doesn't work as well with a 2000 crowd. It would be difficult to attract any players with this backing and the media would crucify the club. By continuing to attend you are helping to shape Venkys vision of Rover's future, a low end Championship club who sells players to clubs we should be competing with. I believe there is still just enough talent within this club to get promoted this season but only if we rid our club of the awful management team. Surely we all can see Kean will not be taking us up and this season is probably our only chance of returning. Let's be realistic if we don't go up Rhodes, Olsson, Rochina, Robinson, Givet and even Danny won't be there next year.

Blackburn Rovers is not a club for Venkys to buy or sell. It is a club for the supporters to permit an owner to buy it or to compel to sell it.
And Mrs Desai will be saying - 'dont worry wee Stevie, we wont take your toys away despite the horrible ungrateful fans in Blackburn. All that money we invested in buying the club and new players and they dont appreciate it tut tut, Yes, Blackburn is Top of the table yes I see that in the India times, this is better for our business now to be top or near the top of the table, so you carry on doing the great job you are and take no notice of the fans, we will subsidize the lower attendances - no problem there wee Stevie'.
Now IMO I think that is a more likely conversation and take on Venkys stance with Kean than anything else I saw written on here. And that is why I said I think the 'go and boo-ers' and the 'no-shows' will have very little effect on Keans position with Venkys. The team are the only ones who are really bearing the brunt of both sets of fans actions. The shyster Shebby and the Odious Kean are both sitting pretty still. All Shebby has done is take some of the 'glare/pressure off Kean at least at first and who thought of doing that - why mama Desai of course. That lady is much cleverer that you all seem to think. Ergo Kean will stay if she wants and right now she obviously wants.

Let's take some positive action by all joining together and stay away.
If you want the Klingon Kean out then . . .
Stop the booing!
Start the boycott !
Everyone welcome . . . together we will succeed.

The 'special' relationship between wee Stevie and Mama D will keep him safe at least until he fails by missing out on promotion this season
I honestly believe that there is nothing the fans can do to speed his exit. But I do believe the protests in some form should continue. Not sure how though but not by keeping on with no-shows or home boos.
What are BRAG or BRSIT or any of the legitimate and seemingly sound protest groups doing now? I really thought they had evidence of wrong-doings at the club that were being investigated and which would conclusively result in either Kean or Venkys (or both) being in deep brown stuff. But this seems to have all faded away like the no-shows. Surely it cannot be taking this long to take the actions they talked about?
This was surely the best way of toppling the 'regime' but seems to be all mirrors and smoke. Unless anyone knows differently?

But then failures in tactics and team selections and general management were becoming increasingly obvious. This season we have been very lucky to be in the position we are.

If you want the Klingon Kean out then . . .
Stop the booing!
Start the boycott !
Everyone welcome . . . together we will succeed.
Blackburn Rovers is not a club for Venkys to buy or sell. It is a club for the supporters to permit an owner to buy it or to compel to sell it.

We're "supporters". We support the team and let the owners know how we feel on the terraces. Boycotting the team is like refusing to vote. You don't go, you don't get a say. Its delusional of anyone who think Kean would get sacked because hes unpopular with the fans. They couldn't sack him on that point anyway, he'd take them to the cleaners. Results are what will ultimately be the reason why he is sacked and results alone.
Go don't go. Don't sit in judgement of those who choose to support the team and condemn Kean face to face where it can be heard - on the terraces where we'll still be long after these charlatans have left our club.

Unlike the boycotters who have layed down their flag and run off and now have the front to try and make the spartans make a dash for the tree line where they can hide like they did. They are now blubbing cause its not fair. Blubbing on here, blubbing in their pint and blubbing at the TV. Thats a lot of blubbing if you ask me.
RUInsane, do you have any dependants?
What do you think about thermionic or germanium signal path and its effects on near instantaneous companded audio multiplexing used in noise reduction? Do you think the introduction of odd/even harmonics by thermionic would have a better overall result or the clean non harmonic introduction of gremanium. Would the introduction of odd harmonics be better than even. which would be more pleasing What do you think?
Which do you think would be better when coupled to a 24 bit 192Khz ADC and what order of harmonics could be reproduced with such a high sampling rate? Should near instantaneous multiplexing be considered prior to such a conversion rate when using thermionic only as germanium would be considered quiet enough?
As you can see by the question, my field of expertise requires no reliance on spelling, so if you wish to reply with a credible answer, you better get surfing and get your calculator out because unless you can prove your answers, I'm not interested. Think you can go back to talking to your tins now and have a think about it.
Oh and I have a Higher national Diploma in electrical and electronic engineering but I don't like to brag.

I have been told There is a culture of "not admitting to making a mistake"and "saving face"within the Indian business community.I believe Venkys are a limited company so they have never had to answer to anyone, not even shareholders. For this reason I think there is nothing we as fans can do to persuade Venkys to remove Kean
Venkys (not Shebby)need to state what the points target is at Christmas and also say that if it is not achieved then Kean goes. I honestly believe this is the only way Venkys can save face and we get rid of Kean

We played badly. We had a lesson that BRFC need to learn from.
We played against 12 footy players at Ewood as we have no support.
We know its not going to be easy. Without the fans, BRFC will lose again and drop down the league......sad in it.......!!!
We need another central midfielder who should be under 30 as its tough in the centre and fast and one needs to be energetic, - instead of Murphy as hes old and showed hes past it, hence didnt get a 2 year deal at Fulham.
We also need one or 2 defenders who are brave like the old Hendry we had in past, but cant find any like that these days....!!!

My B&W heart is heavy witnessing this horrendous situation that achieves nothing and only serves to demoralize the TEAM.
I loathe the Odious One for how he as encroached into my life all matters BRFC, but the B&W shirt with it's badge is, in my opinion, the most vital element and must be supported under any circumstances ?
Attendance or non attendance is not the issue here, again in my opinion, the issue is how to support the TEAM without it becoming detrimental, and should it continue, we will see a corrosive impact that will take years upon years to heal ?
From every quarter Venky know of the unrest aimed at Kean. It is obvious they are sticking with their man until, well, who knows thus the continued booing etc is now like slashing in the wind !
Surely a different tactic as to be introduced in that the team is not affected regardless of what is happening through the match ? The end of the game is when to vent your spleen.
The whole world and it's dog know of the stand off between supporters and the Odious one and is highly unlikely to change any time soon thus a different tactic as to materilize, and we as supporters attending or not attending have to support the B&W shirt, the badge, and rid the 'booing' because in my opinion, the 'booing' is now seeping into the B&W shirt/badge with quite possibly catastrophic consequence's ?
Our club at this time deserves better from all quarters.
Just a few thoughts folk's.

I still have a great little hardware AkaiCD2000 sampler, but did sell on a Novation Nova laptop. Spent some great years learning and using technology, but was drawn back to analogue.
