OWEN Coyle has not ruled out a an enquiry for Aston Villa left-back Stephen Warnock in the coming weeks.

The twice-capped England international, who can also play in midfield, has been frozen out at Villa Park under Paul Lambert and is no longer training with the first team.

With Jay Spearing struggling to overcome a calf strain and Keith Andrews not at 100 per cent because of an Achilles problem, Coyle could be forced to look elsewhere for reinforcements.

The 30-year-old wants to return to the North West, where he represented Blackburn Rovers, and speaking this morning, the Wanderers boss admits he could be tempted into a move.

“Stephen is a player who you know we've looked at before,” he told The Bolton News . “He's a real good player, a good type, and I'm not sure whether that's been regurgitated or not.

“He is definitely a good player but that's where we are with that at the moment.”

Coyle also provided an update on Stuart Holden and Davd Wheater, who provided they overcome long term injury successfully, are both yet to come into his first team plans later this year.

“David isn't scheduled back until late December, and I certainly hope Stuart will be back before that – I spoke to him yesterday, he's been in good fettle and doing well. He'll be over here in a couple of week's time and we'll go from there on that one,” he added.

“But if we've picked up knocks, like Jay Spearing, then loans are something we'll need to look at.

“Ultimately, finance will dictate what happens but it's an avenue we'll look at.”
