FULL TIME: Leeds United 3 Blackburn Rovers 3

RUBEN Rochina salvaged a Championship point for Blackburn Rovers this afternoon after they threw away a 2-0 lead.

The Spaniard brilliantly back-heeled an equaliser with six minutes remaining after Rovers had collapsed after a bright start at Leeds.

Marcus Olsson had inspired Blackburn Rovers into a half time lead at Leeds United – although El-Hadji Diouf's controversial late striker gave the hosts hope.

Rovers' Swede opened the scoring on 19 minutes before creating Nuno Gomes' second eight minutes later, as Rovers started brilliantly.

Leeds pulled a goal back on 41 though as Diouf tapped home from close range, with Paul Robinson adamant he was fouled.

Ross McCormack levelled soon after the break with Luciano Becchio heading the hosts into a deserved lead, until substitute Rochina struck late on.

Rovers started brightly with Nuno Gomes volleying wide in the first few minutes.

The visitors should have been ahead on seven minutes as Gomes' clever pull back found Morten Gamst Pedersen unmarked 10 yards from goal, but his shot was parried wide by Paddy Kenny.

Gael Givet and Gomes then had shots blocked during a goalmouth scramble as Leeds struggled to get a foothold in the game.

Rodolph Austin did see a powerful 30-yard strike test Robinson on 17 but Rovers were deservedly ahead just a couple of minutes later.

Pedersen played Olsson down the left and the Swede raced down the flank before cutting in and firing the ball into the bottom corner.

Rovers doubled their lead on 27, as Olsson again took advantage of the acres of space down the left flank, latching on to another pass from Pedersen.

This time the Swede squared to Gomes on the edge of the penalty area and he comfortably stroked the ball into the bottom corner.

The hosts found a way back into the game in a controversial manner on 41 as Robinson went down under the challenge of Becchio, allowing Diouf to tap home.

The former Rovers winger almost levelled a minute later, his header being brilliantly tipped over by Robinson.

Leeds were level 10 minutes into the second half. A long ball from Adam Drury was missed by Gael Givet , who appeared to be pushed, and McCormack was on hand to volley home.

Leeds were now in control as they pushed forward for the lead with Becchio seeing a close range header blocked by Murphy on the line.

They were ahead on 65 though as Diouf's cross was only partially cleared and Becchio was on hand to head home from close range.

Rovers were being completely over run, with Leeds looking like they were going to score with every attack.

The visitors were level against the run of play on 84 as Pedersen's corner found its way to Ruben Rochina, who brilliantly back-heeled the ball into the net.

In the dying seconds Diouf missed a sitter from close range as Rovers grimly hungon for a point.

3-3. Kean out! Hendry out! No more half-time team talks from Kean! Great first half though, so that's a real positive. BUT Jordan Rhodes didn't have a shot the whole match! What does that say about the team? It is very very clear to me.

Only kean can inspire his team to throw away a 2 goal lead. We were lucky to get the draw. Although nr to the top of the Championship, a pattern is being maintained from last season. Get a good early lead, then let kean tactically throw it away with as much flair as possible. KEAN OUT!!!

Its a good point however after going ahead 2-0 and seemingly in control, its disappointing to see them fall apart in the 2nd half. Comments like theres no leadership on the pitch on radio Lancashire are worrying. Whats Danny Murphy doing? David Unsworth said at the end that there is just something not right. Well we all know what that is. Nobody on here - not even you RUsane - can blame lack of support from the fans. They wre bellowing it out and it resulted in them coming back out in the 2nd half and collapsin. Its not so much what Kean said but what Warnock said. Warnock said the right things, his team changed and Kean couldnt respond to it. I have always said we should have been strenthening the defence instead of splashing out on a striker that wont get a look in with Keans tactics. He didnt have a shot. The defence is so weak. If we get any injuries we are using players that arent good enough to replace them. I cant imagine what he was thinking of that he could go till January with the defence we have. They were plain awful in the 2nd half and again we were lucky to win a point when it shoud have been 3. Glad to see Pedersen is stepping up to the mark though. Maybe this will be his season. In all fairness Venky's need to look at the evidence. The squad is more than good enough to finish half way up the Premier League. The problem is Kean. He is tactically inept. How many points have we lost from half time onwards since he took charge? We know in the first season that if all games had finished at half time then we'd have qualified for a Champions League spot - instead of just avoiding the drop on the final day. He has to go now!! They have to get Mick McCarthy or the like....he'd walk the league with this squad.

All close season and the transfer window we were lacking in defensive capabilities so Kean further weakens us by letting our best defensive midfielder go. The doughnut hasn't a clue.
Rochina and goodwillie could have saved him 8 million.Don't get me wrong when Rhodes gets service he will score goals and I'm glad he's here. But Keans tactics are woeful. Its still a good point at leeds but it should have been an away win. No confidence in Murphy at the moment he looks like he's 36. What about Nigel reo choker he's available as he is a free agent.
This side came down lacking in confidence, we are slowly turning it round. It could be worse, we could be Notlob. We are second.
Yesterday everyone on here would have taken a draw at leeds, now we are dissappointed to have done so.
Things are looking up.

Jordan Rhodes has had his first game for Rovers. Welcome to the mad house. I am sure that once he has had a week or two of getting to know his team mates he will be a great asset to the team. Luckily he gets that chance as we don't play again for a fortnight. He will be able to tell the suppliers where he likes to receive the ball and by the time we play again he will hopefully be able to get on the scoresheet.

Everbody who has posted on here over the last few weeks, bar a few Kean luvvies, halfwits and dingles ALL recognised our defensive problems.
It has been evident for well over 12 months. So the odious ones solution, buy more attackers and sell our defensive midfielders.

We should walk this league but Coco is making a fairly easy job very difficult.

We play our new 8 million striker up top on his own with absolutely no service whatsoever. He is completely100% tactically inept. OK so we are unbeaten in four, but we could have quite easily lost all four. With a half decent manager we would have 12 points and still be in the cup.

I think all and Sundry can see what the problem is. Kean is supposed to have a clean slate, but since the clean slate he hasn't lost, in the league. I am happy with the points total, but have to say the Kean just does not have the football brain to lead the team to anything like success.

Given that Allardyce was sacked even though we sat nicely in the premier league table, hopefull the same fate will become of Kean. Unless he goes soon, I fear that the money we have spent will have been wasted.

Come on do that right thing give him the ELBOW

A great result today against a sound Leeds side that will be challenging for promotion this season. And what good Rovesr goals they all were especially the bit of class from by Rochina for the equaliser, His bullet backheel must have beat around 6 Leeds players as it sped into the goal. Superb.

Still unbeaten and now second in the table and still got a lot more to see from this Rovers side, no wonder we are favourites to win the Championship,

Reasons to be cheerful? Yes, a lot more than last season that's for sure. Well done the Rovers.

I hope Shebby is taking note of the tactics Kean is using, storm the opposition get in front then sit back. Obviously not a working tactic. The opposition cannot score if the ball is in THEIR half. To try and win each match 4 3 is impossible. But to get a lead and keep it is not. It just needs organisation and a manager capable of achieving it. Howard Kendall knew how, so do other well known managers. Perhaps if we are not going to rid ourselves of Kean he could at least follow their tactics.

We are second in the table and have only played well for half a game. Plenty more to come and lots more thrilling games like today's unless we learn to defend better than we have so far. Time for Braveheart to show his mettle.

This is the first time I have posted on here - please let me set my stall out from the start I am not a fan of Kean and I want that to be made clear - he has proved over the last 20 months or so to be out of his depth as a football manager and tactician and this is entirely the reason that we are where we are now. However after reading the comments on here daily during these last dark months it seems its just a frustration vent and there are not any constructive comments on the match itself i.e the article which is the match report. I am currently working in Australia so I could not attend the game however I had to get a report of the match (including how our lads played) from a Leeds fan as these pages have just been used to blame Kean from everything from the Roswell cover up to the Kennedy assassination. We all know that we dont want Kean has a manager however can we please get back to the subjects at hand. The continuous berating of Kean does come from frustration and there isn't anywhere fans can do that together. I think in the main its provoked by fans who go to the gAmes, slagging off those who don't by saying they aren't proper fans and claiming they themselves have higher status. There are one or two who do this continually in a very childish manner - RUsane is one pretty embarrassing poster. To those who have given their support and money for decades through all divisions it is obviously insulting and they retaliate. Everybody is entitled to make their decision about buying tickets. There's no ignoring the Kean factor in any discussion about a game. He is at the crux of everything but if fans could stop the personal insults and winding up it would help the football discussion

I think most Rovers fans would have taken a point before the match so, despite losing a 2 goal lead, this is still a good result. Taking my anti-kean hat off for a moment - considering that are still unbeaten in the league, despite having several new players in the side who are still getting used to one another, leads me to think that, actually, this is a very good start to the season.

I hear Rochina's goal was good - how did Rhodes link up seen as he only met people 24 hours ago etc is this not what we should talk about on these pages? We all know now that we dont want Kean but some of the posts border on ridiculous and petty. Please respond directly to me if you think I am wrong
You're right, we shouldn't expect too much from Rhodes when he's only just joined. HOWEVER! Rovers were collapsing under pressure in the second half and could not get the ball out of their own half. That has nothing to do with Rhodes, it's the existing squad and the way they have been coached. That is still where the problem lies, the problem has not changed.

But there were positives from teh first half, so I hope that they can build on that. I have no confidence Kean and Hendry will sort out the defence this season though.

It's not Rhodes fault at all, not saying it was. And yes the team need time to get used to each other. Obviously. But the panic and desparation as soon as Leeds put some pressure on, shows that the same problems are still there despite a great first half. Hendry and Kean do not know what to do about it. Buying new players does not and will not alter the fact the Kean and Hendry do not know what they are doing! Can't you get that into your thick skull, you nob?

In all fairness Venky's need to look at the evidence. The squad is more than good enough to finish half way up the Premier League. The problem is Kean. He is tactically inept. How many points have we lost from half time onwards since he took charge? We know in the first season that if all games had finished at half time then we'd have qualified for a Champions League spot - instead of just avoiding the drop on the final day. He has to go now!! They have to get Mick McCarthy or the like....he'd walk the league with this squad.
Sorry? Do you mean the squad Kean inherited (then mid-table in Premier League)? This 'squad' isn't worth a bean - and that's the worrying thing - only one player Rhodes apart could command a transfer fee in excess of £5m - that being Martin Olsson! Oh maybe Scott Dann - but certainly not based on his performances since arriving!

Kean has overhauled the squad - we've sold exciting young talent and prospects like Phil Jones, Steven N'Zonzi - fallen out with established senior pro's and resorted to all kinds of tactics to get them out of them club - ie. Ryan Nelsen, Michel Salgado, Jason Roberts (ok not everyone's favourite). Other players expected more established and exciting players to join the club so signed new terms and gradually got peed off with broken promises - Chris Samba ... while exciting prospects that were actually given a chance under Kean were indeed signing a new contract within the next 48 hours - we just didn't know that meant there were endless hidden zeros on the end of the '48' - so much so that even that ran out and he escaped the 'mad-house' for the compensation that will ultimately give Venky's a transfer profit on the summer dealings!

That's not to mention starting a Premier League season and letting a player still under-contract leave for nothing on 'compassionate grounds' after the first few games and go an entire season without finding a natural replacement - I mean Brett Emerton!

Not to mention bringing Jermaine Jones here without an 'option to buy' and then recruiting Petrovic one of the worst if not the worst player to ever pull on a blue+white shirt ... hmmm Petrovic and Goodwillie two Kean signings, well signed while he's been in charge - in time for the Premier League ... but not good enough for the Championship!

THIS 'SQUAD' is not a squad - we've got about 14 players who are mostly 'solid' for this division ... mostly lacking pace and way off the pace for the Premier League, which if given a fair wind, should we be lucky enough to 'fluke' it (this 'squad' isn't a patch on the one that finished 11th - first year back down last time) ...

I won't even comment on the Mick McCarthy suggestion, the problem is if and when Kean does go ... if Venky's do ever do the GOOD deed, then won't they want another 'Yes' man? They won't want a 'Sam Allardyce' saying 'I can't do my job, you can't run a club like this and expect to achieve things' - will they? That's the whole sorry point and the very reason the boycott needs to and should remain intact ... oh I could go on, but quite frankly the whole thing is a soap opera and I can't be bothered with them either!

10k back when K goes, you're all SO in cloud cuckoo land. We rely on away supporters to bring our average up and that ain't going to happen in the Championship.

However after reading the comments on here daily during these last dark months it seems its just a frustration vent and there are not any constructive comments on the match itself i.e the article which is the match report.
Why try picking on me, I only retaliate when one of you monkeys yank my chain. Just like you have done now..
To which I respond with something like, oh dear it looks like when you typed the word GAME your sixth dingle digit caught the caps key. Must be a dingle in disguise.
Is that childish enough for you, or am I just observant.
All I want is everyone back at ewood behind the team, Whats wrong with that? Beginning to think that supporting your team makes you a leper. Odd idea of support round here.
Still I'm willing to let bygones be bygones and even people with an extra digit can come to ewood too.

Nothing like an insult to wake somebody up
All close season and the transfer window we were lacking in defensive capabilities so Kean further weakens us by letting our best defensive midfielder go.
Murphy is past his best, been a good player but not got the legs, better as sub. Rosado will be the player to watch if Uncle Fester plays him. Skill, decent pace, eye for a good pass, good playmaker. Looks for the ball. Will be a good signing.

I agree with what you are saying it doesn't seem he can react and re-arrange the side when in a winning position. What positives can we take out of the game - anyone who watched? Did any of our boys excel?

Yeah we have played 4 games , scored 7 conceded 5 , won 2 drawn 2 , played two of the favourites to go up and are 2nd in league . Yes we still need to improve but try to be positives D!!!head

One sports reporter today says we should have bought a CH not Rhodes! Could be right. certainly defence needs to be improved. But apart from Kean we ALL knew that! He has now got two weeks to sort it out and get the defence solid. Perhaps a game behind closed doors every other day until the next match might gel them together ready for the next few games.

Kean should learn from the game, how Leeds manager change the game in the second half with a goal down. Rochia got a lucky goal and god save Kean in that moment and we got a very good point. Good for the team.

How warnock change the pace of the game in the second half and we where culeless in the midfield. Need to think how easy the leeds players reach in our box. It all shows the defence area is getting open and midfield is just looking on there passes.
