MATCHDAY LIVE: Hull City 3 Wanderers 1
This live event has finished
That's all at the KC Stadium. My brief match report is up online on the Wanderers section of The Bolton News website. I'll be posting some post-match reaction as and when I get it.
McLean on for Simpson
McShane on for Koren
Mark Davies booked for a foul on Simpson
Knight gets his head to Eagles' deep free kick but can't divert it towards goal.
Simpson has a goal disallowed for clattering into Bogdan... Now where have I seen that before?
Mears swings a good cross in, Sordell gets across his marker but puts his header wide. How crucial could that have been?
Sordell on for Kevin Davies
Sordell on for Kevin Davies
"Sacked in the morning" coming from the Wanderers fans...
Marvin Sordell now waiting to enter the game...
Eagles tries to curl one from 30yds. Waste. Ends up with the furious Whites fans behind the goal...
Just under 20 mins remaining. Evans booked for a nasty foul on Spearing.
Evans coming on for Aluko, who's injured.
@MarcIles Are The COYLE OUT chants ringing round the KC ?— @AdamCoops7 01 September 2012
Despite the scoreline, Spearing has been the best Wanderers player on the pitch so far.
Great pass by Spearing through to Afobe, but the young striker pulled his shot wide.
Mark Davies played in by Kevin Davies, and his shot is deflected over the bar by Bruce. Great defending.
And by the way, this could be six or seven by the way Hull are tearing into us...
Another corner whipped in by Hull. It was Olofinjana who got above his marker and the ball bounced off both posts before being hooked away. Wanderers at sixes and sevens.
@OfficialBWFC @MarcIles how many goals do we concede in first 15 minutes of second half?! Sick of this. Not good enough— @jacknolanbwfc 01 September 2012
Bogdan just pushed away a stinging shot from Quinn. Hull more likely to score a fourth here...
Keith Andrews brought off for Afobe.
1-0 up to 3-1 down... Benik Afobe coming on.

Something that no one has mentioned but I feel it could work..4-4-1-1 with kevin favies being the player between attack and mid field..he could help both out, with his work rate and winning the ball as much as he ddoes I feel it would work well..
At this rate I fear coyle wont have long long left to try things
I'd try anything at the moment...
Tim Ream turned inside out there by Simpson. Not good enough. And Quinn couldn't miss. Terrible defending by Wanderers.
GOAL! Quinn taps in from close range after great run by Jay Simpson
Looked like a typical centre half challenge on the goalkeeper, which is fine by me, but usually pulled up by referees nowadays.
GOAL! Quinn's corner headed - seemingly out of Bogdan's hands - by Faye!
Second half underway...
Players back on the pitch. Can't see any changes.
#BWFC now have 1 clean sheet in 47 away league games. Shocking.— @BWFC_Blog 01 September 2012
@MarcIles how are Ream and Knight looking at the back? Do you think Coyle was right to replace Mills?— @JKbwfc 01 September 2012
Wanderers need to step it up second half. I'd personally be happy with a point, provided the performance warranted a bit of praise. So far, it's more like the Forest game, where you felt a little bit short-changed.
@MarcIles how did Spearing look in his first 45 minutes for BWFC?Can you see a way of getting 3 points or would you be happy with a POINT?— @johnwleather 01 September 2012
Common consensus in the press box is that there was a deflection on the second goal too. Looks like Bogdan had no chance.
Wanderers have had two decent patches, scoring in the first, and heading into the half time break looking okay too.
That's half time.
Amos off his line to make the save after Eagles got his toe to a through ball from Andrews ahead of Elmohamady
Olofinjana scrambles the ball behind after Eagles looped a free kick in towards Knight.
Elmohamady produces another great cross from the right. Simpson had a free header on goal but nodded it wide... Real let off for the Whites.
@MarcIles Your updating is good so far!! It's Aluko though, not Akulo;)— @Alonso_Football 01 September 2012
Spearing tries his luck from 20 yards out but it's high and wide.
Hull have been on top since equalising. Akulo looks a real threat.
Just when it looked like Wanderers had settled, Hull sneak down their right and get a ball into the box that should have been cleared. Think it was Ream who diverted it into path of Akulo, but will stand corrected.
GOAL! Elmohamady cross from the right half-cleared into the path of Aluko who sweeps home.
Got the feel of the Forest game at the moment. One side attacks, looks dangerous, then allows the other team to have a go.
Mazy dribble from the Hull striker, who was just distracted enough by Ream to allow Bogdan to get a block in.
Akulo just sliced through the Wanderers defence. A fine last ditch tackle from Ream/Bogdan stopped him opening the scoring.
Hull's fans have responded. And they are finding some space out wide with this wing back system.
That was a great strike from Eagles, who had been the brightest performer of the first 15 mins.
GOAL! Eagles drills a free-kick from some 35 yards. It could have taken a deflection but who cares?
@MarcIles why does it always seem to be a cagey start by BWFC? We should be stamping our authority from the off!— @sportsseek 01 September 2012
That's the first time the football has flowed for Wanderers. Eagles has started well.
Good give and go from Eagles and Kevin Davies. Sam Ricketts picks up the ball and his shot is delected into the hands of Amos
Eagles lofts a free kick towards Kevin Davies, who wins the header but hits the side-netting. Unlucky.
Koren, right-footed, got it round the wall but Bogdan watched it safely drift over the bar.
Foul by Ream on Simpson on the edge of the box. American protesting but this is a chance...
Simpson gets his head on Quinn's cross but doesn't get a good connection. Bogdan watches it bounce wide.
Cagey start from Wanderers. Hull have seen plenty of the ball, but signs they are happy to hit on the break.
Good interception from Spearing - Eagles breaks down left and is brought down. Free kick lofted in but Amos does well to claim.
Spearing already dishing out orders at the back.
And we're off!
And we're off!
So, Spearing makes his debut and Coyle goes back to 4-5-1. Big decision. Will it work?
@MarcIles is this a wind up...I've read your match reports.. #visionexpress— @b4josh8 01 September 2012
Congrats to @AliAlhabsi who became a father again overnight. Top, top man.
@MarcIles We are with you Marc— @BWFCNigeria 01 September 2012
KC Stadium not even half full yet... but a fine venue nevertheless. Always enjoyed coming here.
You sense this afternoon is a big one for Wanderers. Lose, and it's going to be a very long international break. Win, and we're all looking forward to Watford at home.
Our referee today is Christopher Sarginson from Staffordshire. Just the other week he was sending off Bury captain Steven Schumacher.
@MarcIles good decision with mills out he hasn't impressed me at all.. To the guy who is questioning that decision, what have u been watching— @Jj786bwfc 01 September 2012
@MarcIles What's Mills done? Strange one!— @peakydav 01 September 2012
@MarcIles Disappointed to see Sordell not in the starting line up today. Is he on the bench? He is the future of #BWFC. Should always start— @PGA_Gregory 01 September 2012
Quite surprised to hear Steve Bruce is playing wingbacks, especially when one of them is Ahmed Elmohamady... Something to exploit perhaps?
Here are the teams...
Hull (5-3-2): Amos; Elmohamady, Chester, Faye, Bruce, Dudgeon; Koren, Olofinjana, Quinn; Akulo, Simpson.
Subs: Oxley, Rosenior, Dawson, Evans, McLean, McShane, Proschwitz.
Wanderers (4-5-1): Bogdan; Mears, Knight, Ream, Ricketts; Eagles, Spearing, Mark Davies, Andrews, Chung-Yong; Kevin Davies.
Subs: Lonergan, Alonso, Mills, Petrov, Afobe, Sordell, Pratley.
Referee: Chris Sarginson (Staffs)
Watching Jussi and the ex-Wanderers brigade on the big screen here. Remember him having an absolute worldy here at the KC Stadium a couple of years ago.
@MarcIles where's Wylde ?. Wanted to see him get a game!.— @pclangdon 01 September 2012
@MarcIles fairly predictable team thought Petrov might get nod over Eagles. Gives Andrews more scope to get forward with Spearing in there.— @cheshiretrainer 01 September 2012
Hull's pitch mown in concentric circles... quite odd. Must remember to make reference to it in my match report later on...
So it's 4-5-1... which will make a lot of people happy. Just spoke to John McGinlay, who reckons the decision gives Wanderers a chance to get a foothold in the game, then go for the jugular. Wait and see if he's correct.
So that makes it: Bogdan; Mears, Ream, Knight, Ricketts; Eagles, Spearing, Mark Davies, Andrews, Chung-Yong, Kevin Davies.
Subs to folllow...
Tim Ream and Marvin Sordell out.
TEAM NEWS: Faster than normal... Jay Spearing and Matt Mills in.
No team news yet. Would expect it within the next 25 minutes.
For the record, I'd have Jay Spearing in the team - but whether that means dropping someone (Mark Davies) and sticking with 4-4-2 or going 4-5-1, I'm undecided.
What do you think?
OK. Just made the long and winding journey up to the press box, passing Dean Windass en route.... Just need a moment...
@MarcIles hoping for a solid performance and 3 points today ! Nothing less!!! Good updates as usual!!!— @richiebingo 01 September 2012
You can join in on the discussion this afternoon in two ways...
Either log into The Bolton News site to leave comments as you'd normally do on an article. I'll keep tabs on them, promise.
Or you can log into Twitter and fire your questions to me @MarcIles
All eyes on the starting line-up today. Will new loan signing Jay Spearing feature? Will Coyle stick with the 4-4-2 he played against Forest in the last Championship game?
A warm welcome from a bright and sunny KC Stadium where owen Coyle's Wanderers could well do with a pick-me-up after their demoralising cup exit at Crawley.
