Kean offers no excuses for yesterday's cup exit
6:07pm Wednesday 29th August 2012 in Sport
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
BLACKBURN Rovers boss Steve Kean offered up ‘no excuses’ after his side’s limp Capital One Cup exit at MK Dons last night.
Kean made a raft of changes from Saturday’s win over Leicester City, but the club’s fringe players did not do themselves justice in a 2-1 loss at the Stadium mk.
Ruben Rochina, Simon Vukcevic, Fabio Nunes and Edinho Junior were among those given starts to impress, but Kean felt they missed out on a chance to stake a claim for a regular first-team shirt.
It was former Burnley man Luke Chadwick that did the damage with a second half brace, before David Good-willie’s late consolation.
“I’m disappointed for the fans tonight,” said Kean. “I’m sure they expected us to win, just as I did and there is no excuses from me.
“The team I selected was good enough to get through. We gave some players a chance to get minutes and a chance to push themselves into first-team contention for Saturday. Players have to take these chances when they get them and some will know they didn’t.”
Rovers were punished on 51 minutes when Chadwick gave the Dons a deserved lead.
Chadwick doubled the home side’s advantage after a mistake from goalkeeper Jake Kean.
“Sometimes you get a foul for their first goal, but I think their striker has got a touch on the ball, so there’s no complaints with that,” said boss Kean. “The second goal was disappointing because Jake would normally collect that. I never thought we played well tonight.”

No need to leave the Rover's cause Steve, just hand over the reins of managing while you have a few wins in the bag and do something behind the scenes in coaching. It would be "noble" and show you want the best for the club and Venkys, allowing a fresh start for everyone without having to make anyone take all the blame!
Make yourself a hero Steve and step back!

Rather strange because it was only Tuesday that Kean was telling us through the columns of the LET that he had the strength of squad to advance in all competitions. Now, under the banner of the no excuses excuse Kean is telling us that the second string are not good enough for the first team.
After thinking about this I have come to the conclusion that the answer is to sack Kean.

Quote - we can challenge on many fronts, depth of experience in squad and on and on - yet last night another woeful display from back to front!!!
No attacking format whatsoever, one up front and a very jittery defence (even with the help of your drinking mate/defensive coach Hendry)
Kean/Hendry & Co certainly making an impact in encouraging more and more spectators to stay away from both home and away games - and this will continue as long as these idiots remain in charge!!!
For gods sake Kean even someone as thick skinned as you must realize that you are hated and not wanted by the majority of fans - both those that still wish to spend their cash and visit Ewood and those whom choose to stay away whilst you remain in charge - how do you sleep at night - suppose the fat pay packet helps a great deal!!!!

Those that have the power to do so Andy Cryer, should be holding him to account for his bragging statements, before he moves on to the next roll of sh1te.
He goes along unchallenged predicting big things and dragging the club down at the same time, and everybody watches and some even follow. Give me strength., what an enmass destruction, and in the public eye.
Move over for The Real Hustle, After being conned out of millions, the club were given their money back and agreed that the footage should be shown to highlight to others in prevention of being taken in possible scams.
Kean is the fat bald bloke, shabby is the well dressed one and Desai is the sexy swindler.

Dear Shebby
How much MORE evidence do you need about the shambles that has engulfed Blackburn Rovers.
One and a half abysmal seasons have seen us plummet into the Championship and unless something is done quickly an even worse season beckons.
A stronger squad than in the Premier League? Strong enough to be challenging on all fronts? The ‘manager’ insults our intelligence. The man is even more incompetent and deluded than I thought.
Seven points on the board, yes, but seven lucky points and three woeful performances with the mighty Robinson winning the Leicester game for us and saving a point at Ipswich. Embarrassingly dumped out of the CapitalOne Cup by a scratch Division One side with only three attempts on target in another dreadful performance.
A stadium that is now beginning to look a bit run down and will quickly start to look like a ‘ghost’ stadium, with empty seats, empty advertising spaces, main sponsor dumped and name taken off the stands, no shirt sponsors, only eight of 250 corporate sponsors left and attempts to ‘give away’ corporate boxes for peanuts. In view of the deterioration of the ground, the team and the club, maybe the late, great Ronnie Clayton wouldn’t want to be associated with it any more, either, and his name removed, too.
An invasion of SIX third-rate Portugeezers. One good prospect, yes, even two, but SIX? What IS going on?
A failed player who, on his record at Ewood, will NEVER be a manager. Simply, he just cannot manage, either on or off the field. Totally incompetent.
In your words, on your appointment Mrs Desai told you: “Do what you have to do Shebby. We must be promoted.”
You said yourself before your arrival that Kean was not the man to get us back into the Premier League.
Sooner rather than later he will have to go, but the longer you leave it the worse it is going to become. Not only will we fail to get back into the Premiership, so much damage will have been done on and off the field that it will take many years, if ever, to reclaim the well-run club that was Blackburn Rovers before Venky’s.
But the appointment of a new manager when he has gone will be an even bigger decision. Another agent’s stooge will achieve nothing. An experienced manager MUST be appointed. A manager with complete control over transfers. His decision alone and no-one else’s. The only decisions outside his control would be value and affordability, with negotiating responsibility vested in the chief exec in consultation with the owners.
So what IS preventing you from taking action?
Is it Venky’s – or is it a third party?
I no longer recognise the club I have supported as a spectator and a sponsor (pre-Venky’s) for more than 60 years. Many of the missing 12,000+ fans probably feel the same. Some, maybe many, will never return.
The very future of Blackburn Rovers, at the moment, appears to be in your hands.

Football correspondent Andy Crier posts an article headed "Kean offer's no excuses for yesterday's cup exit" in which Kean does, in fact, offer the excuse that the more junior players are actually not up to the standard to be in the first team.
Such a turned around within 24 hours is quite staggering. For this turnaround not to be observed, commented on, or offered up to Kean for an explanation by our ace reporter is even more staggering. Is Andy Crier a real person or just a computer generated name added to articles?

WOW... no defence or excuses from Kean. I can't believe it. I reckon he knows thats now 1 step closer to him getting binned hence he hasn't defended the team. If Leed's beat us @ Elland Road Saturday does that mean he is one game away from the sack???

Its the players fault for not taking chances. Its the refs fault for not blowing for a foul. Its the keeper fault for making a mistake. In other words...
Kean: its everyone's fault but mine.

We expect rochina/Goodwillie to lead as a quality striker in capital one, but fail as a team means more bench time for all new young boys, now J.Rhodes also join the team and you have to fight to get match time.
I feel is a good team - all the front we have quality players. Robbo is amazing , Gomes is a key, Murphy is control. But we need to win each game to build confidence back in FANS.

He could win every game for the rest of this season (well, he couldn't, as he's completely useless) and most supporters would still stay away due to him.
Sack Kean = club can make progress.
Don't sack Kean = we will continue to regress.
Simple.
