FULL-TIME: MK Dons 2 Blackburn Rovers 1

BLACKBURN Rovers boss Steve Kean offered up ‘no excuses’ after his side’s limp Capital One Cup exit at MK Dons.

Kean made a raft of changes from Saturday’s win over Leicester City, but the club’s fringe players did not do themselves justice in a 2-1 loss at the Stadium mk.

Ruben Rochina, Simon Vukcevic, Fabio Nunes and Edinho Junior were among those given starts to impress, but Kean felt they missed out on a chance to stake a claim for a regular first-team shirt.

It was former Burnley man Luke Chadwick that did the damage with a second half brace, before David Goodwillie’s late consolation.

“I’m disappointed for the fans tonight,” said Kean. “I’m sure they expected us to win, just as I did and there is no excuses from me.

“The team I selected was good enough to get through. We gave some players a chance to get minutes and a chance to push themselves into first-team contention for Saturday. Players have to take these chances when they get them and some will know they didn’t.”

Rovers were punished on 51 minutes when Chadwick gave the Dons a deserved lead.

Chadwick doubled the home side’s advantage after a mistake from goalkeeper Jake Kean.

“Sometimes you get a foul for their first goal, but I think their striker has got a touch on the ball, so there’s no complaints with that,” said boss Kean.

“The second goal was disappointing because Jake would normally collect that. I never thought we played well tonight.”

Keep that tongue in your mouth Kean, a few hours ago you were saying what a great squad you have, maybe, but I wonder why we have performed so badly. Why not change the formation when its not working.

Personally, I think we should play to our strengths, we have better attacking midfielders than we do normal midfielders. Why not play 4231 (formation that beat Arsenal last year), 2 holding midfielders and with Rochina, Formica and Dunn/Nunes in front, these players retain the ball well and keep the ball in the right half of the pitch!

Kean is clueless.

As an MK Dons fan I have been very interested from the fans comments on forums and reports.

Blackburn looked poor tonight, understandably it was a second string side, but with the exception of Etuhu I see very little talent amongst your squad. There has been little credit to the Dons who have a squad consisting of 19 senior players. We also had our captain out, two centre backs missing (1 suspension and 1 injured), Alan Smith suspended, an injured attacking midfielder at centre half and an injured right back yet we still managed the win. We also rested our main striker, and also had played 4 matches in 10 games, finishing none of them with 11 men.

We stood up to the plate tonight with a depleted small squad and made it look simple. After previous successes against Blackpool and Norwich in cups, and a draw vs QPR I was ecstatic. Today I am disappointed we let a pathetic Blackburn side score and we only bagged 2!

Very worried for Blackburn, especially as my Grandfather is a Rovers fan. Good luck for the rest of the year, and I hope the players rested are better as it was a poor performance tonight

You and your associates have divided a lovely family club . We have some tough away games coming up..........Shebby stick to your guns pull the trigger soon . It is just a matter of time ! fall on your sword.....you have not got a clue . When you took over we were a comfortable PREMIERSHIP mid table club , now MK Dons are a challenge .

Just a thought but taking time out to comment on something that doesn't concern you, invariably is a sign that your not happy and unfulfilled with your own life. Maybe you feel a little scared and intimidated as well. It could be also a case that no-one possibly comments on your own Club, so maybe your lonely on there and need some company. So, Hello. I hope things in you life improve soon. You will know when this is because when you read an article about BRFC you won't feel the need to comment because you'll be fulfilled in your own life and it won't bother you. If you need help with anything then just ask. Hope your better soon, from BRFC fans.

Oh look another deluded Dingle and it writes, must have gone to the same school as Uncle Fester. Firstly,Rovers are playing crap,no defence no formation,no tactics. We have owners who when Rovers get a corner, they think about opening a shop there,we have a manager that would fit in well at Turd Moor. Secondly,no matter how bad you can describe Rovers, look at the league table,we are above your gang of farmers, how would you describe your bunch of misfits if you cant keep up with probably one of the worst run teams in the division.

Well so much for challenging on all fronts but at least the dimwit hasn't said we threw the game like last year - so maybe this does represent progress!

The worrying thing is how poor we've been in every game - yes, the quality of specific players when compared to championship fare has pulled us through, and yes good teams pick up results when not playing well. However, we've yet to really play well or control a game for even short spells so the jury is definitely still out - if the current level of performance doesn't improve there's no way we'll still be even top half by the end of September.

I have even stopped buying the LET and reading about this disgraceful regime, I hope that when this nightmare ends I will still want to go back to Ewood. There was 7 of us who sat together and none have renewed their STs, what other business would employ a manager who drove the customers away? As usual Kean gets his team selection and team tactics horribly wrong, and when its clear its going wrong he is unable to change it and rescue the game.
-
How many times under the managership of Kean have we come from behind to get a point in a game or win a game compared to other teams in the league.
-
Also how many times under the managership of Kean have we thrown away a lead and ended up drawing or losing a game we were winning compared to the average of other teams in the league?
-
These are just some questions for Shebby and the Venkys to look into. Get your statistician onto this one please, this alone exposes what an incompetent manager Kean is.

Only Rochina came out of this game with any credit. The padded seats at MK remind you of sitting in a cinema. We watched a mix of horror and comedy last night. Lightweight, tippy tappy attack. Punchless midfield. It was the ease with which we were beaten which is the galling thing.
And let's face it, we were few in number and very quiet. Bad times.....

You claim MK Dons is wrong, but why is ok for Sunderland to play in Hendon, Bolton is Horwich, Forest in West Bridgford? Just so you know, you got beat by the franchise! And Burnley will make you look silly in the table this season
Just for the record, Rovers fans do not 'put all of the blame on the manager'.

Kean is an exception.

Rather than me spelling out the full story for you, please go away and do some research on exactly why Kean is hated at Rovers.

Being a completely useless manager is one part, but being a lying, snidy, backstabbing convicted criminal who tries to turn fan against fan is another...

You've got a good manager that we might yet pinch.

But MKDons is wrong - just wrong.
We have a fantastic manager, a great set of players and stability. Robinson does like Blackburn as a club, but would never consider the move. He is getting us promoted. Blackburn are in times of uncertainty, if he does not perform to your overly ambitious standards it could ruin his incredible reputation for himself. Blackburn fans appear to put all the blame on the manager which is wrong, granted he may not be the best but your team is much worse. The performance was one of the worst I have seen for a long time at stadium:mk.

Ah, Kean, thought it wouldn't take you and your ego long to read about what we all think of you.

Now f*** off out of our club and take all of your cronies with you.

You aren't wanted and will NEVER be accepted here. Too much water under the bridge and too many lies and too much deceit from you.

Kind regards,
Andy
Good grief, how old are you? Must be back to school time soon yes?

You are one of the few fans now who dont actually understand the situation we are in and the part Steve Kean has played in it. It always helps to get your facts right before you give such a strong opinion about other fans. Your comment "Blackburn fans appear to put all the blame on the manager which is wrong, granted he may not be the best but your team is much worse. The performance was one of the worst I have seen for a long time at stadium:mk." shows quite a big gap in understanding football and specifically our club. The players you claim are so bad, are in fact Steve Keans players. We had a decent PL squad before he and his paymasters got their manipulative grubby hands on it.

Good luck with that, Stu. I've a feeling that Leeds will show us just where we stand as a Championship team -- mid-table at best.

I fear the Shebby promise of 3 games will not include cup games. He said it in context of gaining enough points for promotion.

I was there last night and it was truly, and spectaculalrly awful.

Tactically inept!
No desire!

You cant change what has gone Shebby just like the fans present and absent - Relegation but you can influence Rovers future but all of a sudden Shebby has done a Venkys and gone quiet on us - answer these questions

Who decided to sign so many Portuguese players this summer - was it you or was it Kean

Without speciying actual figures - who is/was paid more by Rovers - Murphy or Nelsen> We threw out experience last season and this season the jury is out on our new Captain after only 3 games there seems a lack of pace

Finally do you believe the present set up is good enough to win promotion this season? If yes I hope you will all fall on your swords when it doesnt happen If no do something now to give Rovers a chance and get the fans back on side because UNITED we are not

Team selection aganist MK dons makes the trouble. I feel Rochina and Goodwille to start upfront. The new bench players really lost there chance to showcase there talent. Look at the wigen game, all there bench players played nice and they win 4-1.

So Kean should demonstrate- how to win with his second level young lads, the backup players should win in such games to get more match pratice than the normal friendly matches.
