Kean targets a challenge on all fronts
8:00am Tuesday 28th August 2012 in Sport
STEVE Kean believes Blackburn Rovers have the strength in depth to challenge on more than one front this season – as he hands his squad players the chance to shine.
The Rovers boss has suggested the likes of Danny Murphy, Dickson Etuhu and Nuno Gomes will be rested for this evening’s Capital One Cup second round tie at MK Dons, but insists he has the players to progress in the competition.
He said: “It is a time where we have to be careful with the lads who have played most of the three games. They have played lots and lots of minutes and maybe we will have to rest them.
“What we have shown is, if we have to change it around, we have lots of quality. We have quality sitting on the bench and we will utilise the whole squad and I believe we have enough to get through to the next round.
“Danny Murphy has played a lot of minutes, so we could take the opportunity to rest him. We have to utilise the squad. There are a lot of players who have played three games in a week and they have to rest.
“You look at the bench though and you see players who played in the league above in the Premier League and haven’t featured yet. We have players we can put out and win a game.”
With players like Ruben Rochina, Simon Vukcevic, Paulo Jorge, Fabio Nunes and Mauro Formica pushing for a start this evening, Kean believes Rovers’ squad is looking strong.
He said: “There won't be too many better centre back partnerships in the league. I would doubt there would be any better than Danny Murphy and Dickson Etuhu in centre midfield.
“When we look through the rest of the squad we can rotate players around with experience and quality. The young ones we have brought in have got such ability.
“We have got a great squad. We have been good in front of goal and I think there is more to come. I think we can create more chances.
“We have been working a lot defensively, trying to minimise the waves of attack we get at us. We need to improve on last year’s goals we conceded and we are looking good. We are looking solid and we are looking clinical.”

Benjidee_123LittleHaIt's a strong squad for the Championship because it's got plenty of relegated Premier League players. If we had this squad in the top flight we'd be one of the favourites for relegation. Also, had we managed tostay up I doubt very much we would've signed Murphy, Etuhu, Gomes, or Best. Venky's have thrown money at the problem too late and should we fail to get promoted this season we'll be in serious financial trouble unless they dip into their own substantial pockets.

If there's just 2 teams with better defences then that's the automatic promotion spots out of the window.
"The league above" : i.e. The Premier League, i.e. the league in which Rovers plied their trade for 18 of the last 20 seasons before "we can battle on all fronts" got us relegated.

Kean, Venky's, no one rates them, absolutely nobody, but i think with the squad we have got we can easily win promotion back to the premier league, and it will be a more exciting season than spending another season in the premier league where the best we can finish is mid table mediocrity with 1 or 2 highlights, this is a new challenge and one we should get behind, forget about Kean, just support the 11 men on the pitch

Kean is here to stay until and unless results go against us which is when he will be replaced. Get over it and move on...moaning on a newspaper website will get you nowhere.
7 points from 9 despite playing poorly is a good start. Personally i aint bothered if we go out of this cup this year it can get in the way of our priority..promotion. Leeds on Saturday is the priority and getti g at least a point.

’t local anymore …mercenaries the lot of them, from the owners who know bug ger all about football or the area their business resides, just business people after a quick profit. The management just after taking a big pay check every week. The players now being signed because of the agent they use rather than their footballing ability……….BRF
C has now severed all links with the local community. I truly feel sorry for the fans that go to Ewood in the hope of better days around the corner, wake up, these charlatans are ripping the life and soul out of the club and don’t care about the divide they’ve created amongst the fans. I will not badmouth anyone who goes to Ewood, after all it’s your money and you’re entitled to do with it as you wish, but so am I, can honestly say I sleep at night knowing I’m not supplementing a regime whose only goal is profit, at the expense of a fantastic local club, that club we all luv with its special place in our hearts is NOT ANYMORE…it’s a sham.

Despite their promises, have they spent any of their OWN money on "Their Baby " yet ?

I can only give you my reasons:
I bought my ST last season after a lot of hard thinking, I have a very demanding job and going to Ewood is one of my releases and pleasure's in life. I have been going since I was 11yrs old and held a ST for 25 years with one of the best seats in Ewood.
In the end I renewed last year in the belief that the owners would do the right thing when Kean messed up . For the first time ever I wasn't enjoying the experience, it didnt feel like my Blackburn Rovers that I had followed with a passion for all these years.
The owners have dismissed and shown no respect to the fans, the protests passed with no reaction. So sadly this was my first chance to do my own protest and obviously thousands have felt the same way.
The events of the last 18 moths are well documented and in my opinion Keans role in it all is unforgiveable.
So there we go my friend, sorry to go on a bit but I needed you and others on here to know that the non attenders are not interested in which division we are in, there are more important things than that.
I respect those that have chosen to attend, but I will not stand back and allow the 10,000 to be slagged off on these pages.

to support anything that has mr kean as a figurehead is an insult to everything that jack walker stood for,
it condones the selfish actions of a group of individuals who have and continue to demonstrate a complete lack of interest in the views of what were a loyal group of supporters
i have stated before that the most significant action we can take in addition to refusing to attend games is to ask the walker family to demand that jack walkers statue is moved out of the ground

Do we really have a squad of quality Mr Kean
We have rode our luck in the League but that doesnt address the problems on the pitch and training ground.
Not convincede the Portuguese players atre what are needed in this league we need fighters players with passion not flair players who drift in and out of a game
What do you think Shebby of that performance - a lost opportunity to generate cash maybe the only thing Mrs D may act on - please tell her the truth NOW - SK is not up to it never has been never will be - the man would go if he had an integrity but sadly he hasnt (shown in it 18 months) so unlikely to do so now

It's nothing to do with playing in the Premiership or not.
It's nothing to do with not supporting the Rovers.
It's nothing to do with loyalty.
It's everything to do with making changes happen at BRFC.

He's like a disease spreading to all corners of the clubs foundations and it's seeped into the performances which are now becoming consistently poor at an alarming rate.
I find his handling of the players to be well below the standard expected of a so called 'excellent coach'. And his tactics are non-existent, I honestly believe he does no scouting on opposing teams and just waffles a load of crap to the players. I know others won't agree but that's how I feel.

"KEAN TARGETS TOP 4 FINISH"
I'm sorry but Kean has got to go. We have the players here to mount a serious promotion challenge. The problem is, that despite the fact that this is Kean's squad entirely, it is the WORST squad we've seen since Uncle Jack took over. These Portugese players just don't have a clue and Kean is responsible for them.
The numskill has no clue about tactics and as has been reported before, the man is a psychopath.
Raos and Mrs Desai, please do all the decent folk of Blackburn a favour and just rid our club of this person.
You chose the wrong coach, bring back Karl Robinson, he clearly has more idea about building an attractive football team with a winning mentality.

ng knocked out of the League Cup isn't a disaster for us and as you can see from the results the majority of top teams in the Championship all went out to teams from a lower league. So no big deal. We seem to be making every little thing into a major drama when actually is it is not even a problem.

I think we've got decent enough players to get promoted, although the depth of our squad is nowhere near as great as Kean says it is. A couple of injuries or suspensions in defence or midfield will cripple us. Also, Kean needs to put professional differences behind him and use the players in order of their ability. Starting Edinho in front of Goodwillie is a prime example of 'cutting off your nose to spite your face'.
As far as I'm concerned, Kean has shot himself in the foot again with his latest declaration, although this time it's because there's an element of truth to it. Yes, we do have lots of quality on the bench so we should've won this game comfortably. The fact that we didn't only emphasises Kean's managerial shortcomings even more.
Unfortunately for us, Mrs Desai can always be relied upon to bandage that foot.

The football world in general cannot believe that he kept his job at the end of last season and surely if they can understood that then they would question this themselves and would get rid of him pronto. The brothers Grimm seem to want him gone now....but how long before her upstairs agrees? One more second is too long for me.
The results are coming though (despite Kean - and not because of him) and we are third in the table and clear favorites to win the championship......I just hope the Venky matriarch can see past the good start and take a more long term view and also consider the past 18 months. That was a complete disaster ending in relegation and she must know that she cannot - must not - wait for another disaster to befall this season due to Keans ineptitude again.
Keep winning yes, but without Kean.

The FA Cup will be exactly the same. These competitions are seen as a chance in giving the 'fringe' players a chance - huh fat chance then !
Don't let me here of the odious one as being held up as a beacon of ambition, positiveness etc etc. he his the most negative of people I have ever witnessed considering that which he his lauded for !
In itself losing is not the end of the world, but after last seasons forfeit gaff yesterday's article was read by myself as an admittance that this was not a priority and I expected nothing.
The odious one is the most slippery of snakes I have ever witnessed. His remit is to get BRFC back into the promised land, and not for footballing reasons(IMO)........
.........
Does the odious one really believe that he his going to do any better with his third attempt at the Premiership ? Bolloxx - although I'm no oracle it is so chuffing obvious. Yo-yoing in and out of the premiership does have it's financial benefit's - does it not ?
Many Championship teams along with Premier teams lost to lower league teams evening last, and every respect to them for taking the competition seriously along with giving the bigger so called clubs a bloody nose. I'm sure other supporters are debating their exit, but ours, of course becomes more bloated through the abysmal record of the odious one along with the circus that follows him.
This regime just does not give a good chuff over BRFC's history and it's supporters, and will be built in their vision no matter at what cost, and I'm talking human cost here !
I want to go back to Ewood and just as I see a glimmer of hope it is shattered, but I won't give up on our club unlike this imposter who purports to manage it !
I question the wisdom of these people, and I am here to be proven wrong, unfortunately, it would seem that it is going to take a lifetime !!!
I'm absolutely convinced now that this is the future before us and the odious one is going nowhere alas.
